Clemmons didn't play the 1st game, can you imagine Gannon gett'n blindsided by him? Out in the open he won't take a hit like McNair did,Gannon is to smart for that,Slid'n around not to take the big hit!

Are you taking up a collection for her? I'll bet we could get major contributions from the other board if that meant she wouldn't post there for the whole weekend.

McNair was blindsided by Clemmons. We need to put a hurtin on him a couple of times so he'll think twice about vacating the pocket.... I'd rather see him in the whole game so we don't have to modify our gameplan for a new QB. We know how well our coaching staff makes adjustments mid-stride....

The trick with keying a LB on him is that the LB can't commit to stopping him too soon...if Gannon sees the LB leave his coverage area, he'll dump it off and get yards that way...
My plan would be to be sure that the DEs contain as best as possible...show more blitzes than the first game...get to him early and often and make him think twice...if he does scramble...knock the hell out of him so he might hesitate the next time he thinks about leaving the pocket... Make him beat us long...it won't happen...if we allow him those little dump offs and 8 yard slants or to get out and run...we are in for a long day... if all else fails...as someone already said...put Denise in the game... ------------------ joe "The word "genius" isn't applicable in football. I dont feel you can call McNairs shot ,blindsided,McNair never saw Clemmons till just before the hit! Gannon won't be hit like that unless it is blindsided,he will slide!

"What is the best way to stop Gannon ?"
Hummm, I prefer a 30.06 from the flood-light platform. |

JOhn, why take the chance...how about some C4 in his helmet...or better yet, just take out the entire locker room...I hope the ATF or FBI isn't monitoring this BB...

The best way is to keep him in the pocket with no lanes to run through or outside. he starts to get very happy feet, dance around and even panick a little when there is nowhere for him to run.

We gotta knock their butts in the dirt, kick-em in the groin, go up in the stands and hit his mommy in the mouth.
Uh, I mean play good solid football and win the turnover battle.
|

Arash,
Not a bad idea, but is there room for his head still? Besides the helmet might create to much shrapmetel. Of course that also might take out a few other raiders players.... |

I think someone needs to take their 4-wheel-drive-all-terrain-vehicle and use it to "tackle" the scrambling Gannon...

Contain him and make him throw long. Take away the 3-6 yard dinkdunk game underneath and blitz straight up the middle. The DE's job is containment, not sacks. I know that sounds odd coming from an old QB-Crushing Homer like me, but Gannon is dangerous when he improvises. Collapse the pocket around him, do not over-pursue up-field.
Gannon will not beat you with 20+ yard passes. He is the best at the dinkdunk game, so force him to beat you down-field. If he does so, tip you hat with all due respect and turn your attention to who will be our HB next season. If Schottenheimer pulls out the soft zone, storm the skybox and hurl him to the turf below. Anyone who wants to give Raye a few dope slaps as a preemptive measure would not be criticized. xoxo~ gaz still sick to his stomach from the soft zone in Raiders 1.
|
