Fair 'nuff.

But in 2 years he's turned the WR corps over from being the worst unit I've ever seen (in any position group) to being solid, if unspectacular. To go from Bowe, Moeaki and a bunch of chaff to Maclin, Kelce and then a couple of nice developmental guys in Wilson and Conley (who, if nothing else, would be plucked off waivers the instant we released them) shows that he recognizes the need and has been trying to turn the ship.

He just started with absolutely nothing. One more nice draft pick (a Hardy type, IMO) along with continued development from Wilson and Conley should be enough to have us in pretty nice shape.

Maclin, Wilson, Conley, and... uhm... DAT... going into 2016.

I think the Chiefs just may burn a draft pick on a WR.. 3rd-5th rd guy.

Of course, they could also add a mid-tier vet instead.. maybe Andy just can't let go and brings Avant back to play till he's 50?

Albert Wilson is a second year player from a small school who is just starting to show that he belongs in the league. Replacing him should not be a priority at all. We have much larger needs. Drafting should always be about best player available, so if a steal falls to us, great. Short of that, we still need a corner, a MLB, and fatties on both sides of the ball.

Absolutely. In fact, I would say that's his best fit long-term. I don't think he's quite big enough to be a 4-3 MLB or athletic enough to play outside in a 3-4. I guess I could see him as a SLB in a 4-3 but he doesn't really have a pass-rush set and in the modern NFL I think you'd really like to see both the Will and the Sam able to rush the passer even in a 4-3.

Yeah, as far as I can see, ILB in a 3-4 is the only good long-term home for Brothers.

He's an athlete and a tackling machine. I'd love to see him in kc next to and eventually taking over for dj

I wouldn't hate the pick, but I wouldn't love it either.

Brothers isn't going to be a differencemaker, IMO. He's going to be a good player but I think you can find a lot of that kind of player in the later rounds.

If Smith fell to us at the end of the 1st, I'd take him in the 1st before I'd take Brothers in the 2nd. I just think Smith has the ability to be an anchor on the defense and I don't quite see that ability with Brothers.

He could probably do it, but you'll be a little disappointed if you expect him to be as dynamic as DJ is.

Brothers played mostly weakside this year and he flourished because he's an above average athlete, especially for a linebacker. But really, DJ could have damn near played safety coming out of college. If I'm thinking of comparables, Jaylon Smith is DJ and really Brothers is closer to someone like Ramik Wilson (at least physically).

Brothers has more of a nose for the ball than Wilson and will be more likely to take on blockers and/or challenge at the point of attack. But I don't expect he'll ever be the kind of 3-down terror that DJ is.

Derrick Johnson's greatness has been criminally understated throughout the NFL. That guy does the kind of stuff that we won't see again in KC for a very long time. Brothers will end up a quality player at the next level, but if you're expecting him to 'replace' DJ, you're asking too much.

I'd be surprised if the Chiefs chose a WR any higher than the 5th round. Albert Wilson has made strides this year and Conley has as well. I'd expect Conley, Wilson and Maclin so see most of the action next year and if the preseason was any indication, Da'Ron Brown will likely make the roster as well.

I could see them taking another Gronk-like TE and letting Harris, Parker and O'Shaunessey battle it out for the final roster spot/Practice squad but as a few others have mentioned, Right Tackle and Left Guard are the priorities, IMO, followed by another CB.

But I'm also confused as why the left guard of the future shouldn't be Mitch Morse. Fulton was very good at Center, Morse played Left Tackle in college and started out the season at right guard, so I'm just not sure why we haven't seen an offensive line combo of Fisher/Morse/Fulton/LDT/Reid.

It's kind of puzzling to me.

If Maclin got hurt tomorrow we'd be completely ****ed. Albert Wilson is "okay" and while I'm a huge fan of Conley, he hasn't proven much.

I want to get another speed receiver in the first 3 rounds to bolster the weaponry on offense and have reliable depth in a worst case scenario.

Oh, and **** Jason Avant. We need to replace him.

The same could be said for a lot of teams.

Dorsey's done a great job of building the roster but right tackle and left guard are glaring holes. When a guy as mobile as Alex Smith is the most sacked QB in the NFL, your offensive line has problems with pass protection.

Plus, the Chiefs won't be a position to get a "Blue Chip" rated pre-draft player so their best best is later in the draft, undrafted or in free agency but I think it's highly unlikely the Chiefs can acquire a Maclin-type player that can fill that role immediately, anyways. I look for Conley and Wilson to make even bigger leaps in 2016.

Plus, as DJ pointed out, the #2 isn't the second option in this offense, it's the tight end.

Legitimate #2 & #3 WR's are huge needs for us next year, in my opinion. Arizona has 6 WRs better than anyone we have except for Maclin. Wilson may be the worst #2 WR in the NFL, and Conley might be the worst #3 WR.
