I guess I could see him as a SLB in a 4-3 but he doesn't really have a pass-rush set and in the modern NFL I think you'd really like to see both the Will and the Sam able to rush the passer even in a 4-3.

Yeah, as far as I can see, ILB in a 3-4 is the only good long-term home for Brothers.

I wouldn't hate the pick, but I wouldn't love it either.

Brothers isn't going to be a differencemaker, IMO. He's going to be a good player but I think you can find a lot of that kind of player in the later rounds.

If Smith fell to us at the end of the 1st, I'd take him in the 1st before I'd take Brothers in the 2nd. I just think Smith has the ability to be an anchor on the defense and I don't quite see that ability with Brothers.

Yeah...I guess that's probably not going to happen. I hadn't really started following the draft stuff much and as I'm looking around, it looks like he's getting Kuechly treatment. He may not make it to the teens at this point.

Maybe Scooby Wright's injury will push him down a bit. He has a tendency to freelance a little too much but if you put him out there to learn from DJ for a season between Ford and Houston, the amount of athleticism in the LB corps would be virtually unparalleled.

If Smith fell to the 12-15 range (highly doubtful).....I'd trade up for him. Sac doesn't think he's an ILB in a 3-4.....but I think he's wrong.

What's his beef? Too 'long'; afraid guards can get under him?

Man, I can't see anything in Smith's game to say he wouldn't excel in a 3-4. Sure, he may be a slightly more natural fit as a 4-3 WLB but I think the edge to his game and his willingness to go out there and lay a hit make him a very nice fit as the Mike in a 3-4 and his athleticism makes him a true 3-down backer.

Can't remember exactly. I'd have to find his post and quote it....but basically I think most of it is what you just said.

I wouldn't sleep on Justin March.

Apparently, he was a beast in training camp and looked good in preseason before injury.

I can only get Jesse Haynsed so many times before I stop worrying about training camp heroes. I'm still waiting on Cameron Sheffield "who looks just like DJ in camp; even has the same build" to break out...

Well, this is a little bit different because in addition to all of the glowing camp reports, he did look very good in his first preseason game before tearing his meniscus.
