Nine students found dismembered after vanishing on vacation

https://www.newsweek.com/students-fo...oaxaca-2040427

At least nine dismembered bodies, feared to be those of missing students vacationing in Mexican state of Oaxaca, were discovered beside a highway on Sunday, local media reports.
The remains were found inside and around an abandoned car, covered by a tarp stained with blood, according to El Financiero and Periodico Central.
A bag containing eight pairs of severed hands was also recovered. Mexican Cartels are infamous for amputating hands of victims.
The bodies had bullet wounds and visible signs of torture, according to local media. The car was located in San José Miahuatlán, near the border of Puebla and Oaxaca.

ID cards found at the scene matched missing people Angie Lizeth Pérez García and Angie Lizeth P.G., 29, who was reported missing from Santa María Huatulco in Oaxaca on February 28, and Lesly Noya Trej, 21,
reported missing from San Pedro Pochutla, also in Oaxaca, that same day.
Others reported missing include Brenda Mariel N., Jacqueline Ailet N., Noemi Yamileth N., Raul Emmanuel N., Rubén Antonio N., and Rolando Armando N.

Chilling CCTV footage captures the last known sighting of the group on February 24. The friends were seen driving along the Atlixcayotl highway near the town of Atlixco,
approximately 90 miles west of where the remains were later discovered.

Authorities have not confirmed the discovery of the bodies is cartel-related; the manner of the killings could suggest criminal organizations were involved.

Cartel violence in Mexico, driven by the high stakes of drug trafficking and organized crime, employs ruthless tactics—from mass executions and brutal dismemberments
to widespread kidnappings—to assert their power.

Costa Maya. It's a manufactured cruise port not far south of cancun. The main attraction there is the Chacchoben pyramids that are about 30 minutes away.

Protestors once blockaded Oaxaca City for a few months until the govt came in with bulldozers and ended up killing a teacher.

On my trip I ran into a protest roadblock between Playa Escondido and Salina Cruz on the Oaxaca coast. They basically made us sit around until after nightfall, then let us through. Vendors were ready with snacks and cold drinks.

When I got to the hotel, I was all excited to ask the clerk if he'd heard there was a protest a few miles away or seen anything about it on the news. He hadn't. I asked him if he had any idea what the protest was about it. He just looked at me deadpan with some annoyance and said, "It's Oaxaca."

Not a surprise, very normal for Mexico. Mexico is one of the biggest shitholes in the New World.

I wish our ancestors annexed all of Mexico under Manifest Destiny, not only parts such as Texas and California.

Just read an article that said these “college kids” had been invited down to commit crimes by some ex-mayoral candidate turned criminal boss. They then committed a bunch of thefts and robberies against tourists and the local crime group took them all out because their main racket is selling recreational drugs to tourists and don’t want them messed with. The ex-mayoral crime boss has also now been found shot with a note alluding to him being a thief and thieves not being tolerated.
