This is true, though I kind of question it...

Charles was 5'11" 200 and always looked 200.

This kid is 5'9" 194 and looks slimmer than Charles when he should look slightly thicker.

I think he played closer to 180 and bulked up for the combine. Now, if he can keep himself at that weight or even get up to about 205-ish before camp, that'd be great. The season will drop a guy several pounds so you really don't want him playing at 180-185 come playoffs.

I really hope Andy uses this kid like he used Tyreek Hill as a rookie. Gadget plays, punt returns, handoffs, screens, wildcat, end around, a few crossers and deep shots. Dude could make a big impact

100% this.

I think Andy misses having a gadget on offense. Would be a great way to involve him with the team

Ranking 2025 NFL Rookie impact for non-Round 1 draft picks

Quote:
Brashard Smith, RB, Kansas City Chiefs (No. 228): There were several late-round running backs I could have chosen here, as the exceptional depth of the class pushed many of them down the board. Smith switched from wide receiver at Miami to running back at SMU, which speaks to his unique versatility that should lead to schemed touches for him in Kansas City. Smith is great after the catch and shows fantastic lateral agility and straight-line speed.

Was watching some scouting videos of him on youtube. His lateral movement, vision and agility is scary good. Plus he has homerun speed too. I said before that the way he moves reminds me of Tyreek. I have no doubt this kid could be the tonic that ignites our running game again. I really think his skillset could elevate this offense if he works hard In camp and keeps his head in the playbook.

You may be right but some guys just carry the weight differently. I’ve mentioned it a time or two but Jerick McKinnon was listed at 5’9” 209. He always looked like a dude who weighed about 185.

That and he needs to be able to pass block as well.

Jamaal was closer to a 185 pound playing weight. Herm has said that Charles was 200lbs soaking wet.

Sigh.

I can't wait for football season.
If the offense doesn't set shit on fire, it will be very disappointing, and a clear indication that Nagy actually IS the problem.

With protection, there is no reason this offense, with these players, shouldn't be Top 5 or higher this year. On paper, I don't know how a defense can defend this combination of wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs, with Mahomes at QB.

Morning thought:

Short-yardage, two-back set with Hunt as the up back and Smith deep.

Hunt is available for a dive. Smith is available for an outside pitch.

You can run play-action off this and and have an attached TE leaking out , with Smith still running a pitch to that side. Gives you a true triple option on that play action.

You also can run a play-action off of it and have Smith run a wheel.

Having that explosive outside speed at RB just gives you so many options.

This would be great to get back to that 2018-19 playbook. The defense having to cover all those possible directions and players with speed to pull it off. Going to be fun if Andy opens up the playbook.
