A source within the otherwise impenetrable walls of One Arrowhead Drive advises that the Chiefs have fired this morning offensive coordinator Chan Gailey.

Gailey survived the initial purge of assistant coaches after Todd Haley was hired in February.

It's unclear what has changed between then and now.

am I the only one based on the news release's title that thought after looking at our O-line and our QB going down, that Chan is simply relieved that he won't have to be OC for the season opener when The Ravens rape us back to the dawn of man... aka before the advent of the forward pass... aka Herm's RRPP assault... ?

This may just be a case of Haley saying that he wants to take over playcalling at this time. I still wonder whether Gailey has been fired or if he is sticking around as the QB coach.

It's funny, I was reading some article the other day that mentioned that it looks like the Chiefs still haven't found an identity for their offense, and if you think about it, last year it took us a hell of a long time top find one. I'm thinking that maybe Haley looked at that, looked at the situational playcalling the last two weeks, especially in the fourth quarter where we have a chance to win both games, and thought he could do better. We'll see...

As soon as we get an OL that can pass protect, QB like Warner, Fitz, Bolden and the rest of the Cards receivers, KC might be able to have a top 5 passing attack. With so many passing weapons, the Cards should have been able to move the ball on the ground.

Gailey took sub-par talent and actually eeked out a bit of production.

Krumrie took sub-par talent and set a record for futility.

KC is going to get bumrushed week 1. You guys are lucky Cassel is out for 2-4 weeks because he would be out for the year after week 1 if he played.
