Eerie similarities between the 1999 Rams and the 2009 Chiefs.

I'm telling you, we're on to something.


In 1999, the Rams invested a high-round draft choice in a veteran quarterback who had been a backup for another team (Trent Green).

In 2009, the Chief invested a high-round draft choice in a veteran quarterback who had been a backup for another team (Matt Cassel)


In the third preseason game of 1999, the Rams' new quarterback was injured.

In the third preseason game of 2009, the Chiefs' new quarterback was injured (albeit not seriously).



The Rams quarterback had a left knee injury.

The Chiefs quarterback had a left knee injury.



The Rams' previous quarterback starter in opening day in 1998 was their third-round pick from three years earlier (Tony Banks).

In this same line of thinking... the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason and then never won a regular season game. If the Chiefs can lose the last game, then clearly, they won't lose a regular season game.

Here's another fact: Trent Green held a Q&A session in Fan Zone at Gate H right before the 3rd preseason game Saturday. I was there, and one of his answers was explaining the adversity he went through after his knee injury
