Who stood out in tonight's game?

I wasn't able to watch it, but I heard about Maclin. About time we have a player that won't take any shit. How did Tyreek do? Who else stood out? Thanks.

You could put Hill in the slot as well, a la Randall Cobb.

Just depends on how you utilize the slot WR.

If you're going to use him like Bobby Wade, Conley's stride length doesn't work because his routes just can't be precise enough (that would be Hill's forte). If you're going to use him like Victor Cruz, OTOH, you can get by with it.

It just depends on how you want to scheme. I don't think Conley works as a 'conventional' slot receiver, but there are ways to make him function well inside. I just don't think those ways jibe with how Reid likes to use the WCO.

Does anyone think Albert Wilson could be cut? Should he be cut?

But no, I don't think you can put Maclin in the slot. He's way too critical as the Z in this offense.

Reid uses his Z as a 'do everything' route runner. It's pretty much the position that he builds his route concepts around.

I think that's a complete non-starter.

Cut? No. But as the season wears on, unless the lightbulb really comes on for him, I think he's the Chiefs 5th option at best.

Maclin, Conley, Streater, Hill, Wilson, Robinson, in that order.

I'll be honest - I saw CC play a ton of games in the NCAA - I would not be one bit surprised if Chris becomes a VERY special receiver, like even above where most of you think he hits his 'ceiling.' Plus I think he literally runs routes pretending to be in a Star Wars' battle, one in which he's some sort of Jedi warrior on the loose.

Iirc, they did use maclin in the slot some last year. They move guys around alot out there.

Im pretty pleasantly surprised with Conley this far. Looks better than I thought he would. Kuddos there.

No doubt; they have packages where they move the Z inside.

But I think Milkman is suggesting that he's our primary slot receiver in the 3 wide sets; essentially saying that Maclin should be running as the Y.

That's a bad idea.

That's always been the thing about Fisher.

That man is massive. And for his size, he's incredibly athletic. When his feet do the right thing, you can see how remarkably quick they are.

The dude has every physical tool needed to be, and I shit you not, the best LT in football. He's a physical goddamn freak.

But the odds of him getting there are beyond remote. The learning curve is just so steep for him. To get to that point, everything he does has to be completely second nature; he has to play without thinking. Even if he's healthy for another couple of seasons, he'd just barely be approaching that (if he progressed as needed).

He came out so raw that it was always going to take time to get him to merely playable. And it wasn't going to be until he reached that level that he could really start to work on becoming great.

Last season he hit the threshold level he needed to hit to actually start climbing the ranks. He can actually learn through what he's doing right now (instead of just reinforcing bad habits). It will be interesting to see if he can continue to progress mentally because physically he has every tool you could ask for.
