People walked out of Iron Man 3 when they shit on The Mandarin, especially after Ben Kingsley was doing a great job with it. Turning the Mandarin into a joke character played by a bumbling actor robbed Iron Man fans of a cinematic battle between Iron Man and The Mandarin. I walked out of Spider Man 3 when they revealed that Sandman killed Pete's uncle, effectively shitting on With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility. Hey Pete, even If you had stopped that guy when you had the chance, your uncle would still be dead, and you've become Spider Man out of guilt for nothing. Its a pretty simple concept really, but given your inability to keep up with the conversation, it doesn't surprise me that you don't understand it.

The creativity and originality is astounding. If expecting the on screen product to reflect the source material it is made from, and targeting that audience is what makes someone a nerd, then sure.
Your ignorance of the source material saves you from this annoyance, and somehow makes you better than those with knowledge of what they're watching. Ok. Best way I could put this is like this. Director makes a film that includes Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is unlike anything the director has ever seen, and prefers a more "grounded" approach, so artistic liberties are taken because he doesn't want a superhero in his football movie. So Patrick Mahomes wears the wrong number, plays for the Raiders, and has yet to win a championship because his skillset is that of Matt Cassel in the movie. As a Chiefs fan, you're outraged. This is NOT Patrick Mahomes! WTF! How the **** did you come up with this pile of shit!? Clueless asshole in back row: SHUT UP NERD, THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING!

They took a more grounded approach in this universe because that’s Nolan’s style. They did a good enough job with it too. Hardy bulked up for the role and despite being like 5’8” in real life, they did a great job with the camera angles to make it seem like he was a massive hulk. You wanted a CGI roid freak with veins popping in every muscle instead. The worst part about the whole thing was how difficult it was to understand him at points. That didn’t stop people from loving how dangerous he was and the iconic quotes. Thematically, he was a good villain choice too. They went from villains to challenge his ideology to one who could challenge him physically. I thought that was a nice shift. Concerning Superman, idk what to tell you. You strike me as a dipshit purist who isn’t even familiar with source material. If you’ve actually read comics, you’d know they change shit up all the time. Superman was created in the 30s. You really want 90 years of retelling the same exact story in comic, movie, cartoon, TV show and video game format? That would be dumb af. Yeah, every once in a while have Superman kill snap and kill someone (ala Injustice or Man of Steel). Funny thing about your complaint in Man of Steel is that Superman literally had no other choice. Either he breaks Zod’s neck there or he watches as his heat vision obliterates a family of four. You’d rather him sit there and watch that happen just to preserve some bullshit, unbreakable moral code. What a stupid ****ing complaint. |

The ending of that hinted at an entire alternate universe with dark versions of wonder woman and aqua-man among others. I was excited to see Gunn expand on that but it never materialized.

What?
![]() This scene is ****ing awesome. It’s obvious that Superman has his hands full. Your “well why doesn’t he simply ______” shit just doesn’t apply here. He had no other choice. He begs Zod to stop, tries to prevent the heat vision from getting to the family to no avail, Zod says “NEVER”. He would never stop. It absolutely had to happen. And it deeply hurt Supes to have to do it, but he chooses humans every time. That scream of anguish from Cavill was money. I love that scene. Not liking it is one thing, but you’re doing entirely too much. |

And instead of your fantasies, I'll give you a real life example, based on source materal as well as reality: Moneyball Great book that got turned into the Brad Pitt film based on the book and the Oakland A's 2002 season. Nary a mention about how good the A's were heading into the season with their incredible pitching staff, Miguel Tejada, Eric Chavez and others... Nope, just all about losing Damon and Giambi and how the team was broke and there's no way they could ever compete again. All hogwash. Does it make it a bad film? Nope. It's a great film, even if it does shift reality and twists the book's meaning around. If you think "Rises" is a bad film because it doesn't do Bane justice to the comic, you're an imbecile. And these are all fictional characters, by the way... I think it's actually more egregious in the Moneyball instance of shifting reality to make it a more "Hollywood" underdog story. Are you so firmly in the "IT'S REAL TO ME DAMMIT!" pathology that you can't even see the forest through the trees anymore? They're fictional characters in fictional worlds. Anybody can do whatever the hell they want with them. If you don't like it their changes THAT is not what makes it "bad". You just don't like it. Seriously bro, grow some pubes and maybe go take a walk outside. I think it might do you some good. |

Instead of banishing Zod to the phantom zone (and leaving the door open for Michael Shannon to return and do another great job), the decision is made that Superman is going to KILL Zod. The innocent family is there to make the small minded believe he "had no choice" lmao, when the real issue is with the writing of the character itself. If you're trying to tell me that Superman, who held off Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Cyborg so effortlessly that he was also able to easily track The Flash's super speed, was entirely unable to do ANY other maneuver in the world and the ONLY thing that this godlike being could do was wrench Zods neck, then you're a fool. Also, flying down? Lmao get the **** outta here. Sure, Zod was sooooooooo busy "flying down", that he forgot to refuse to let his neck get twisted, so he dies? Ok bruh.

If I let you put me in a rear naked choke, you would not be able to jump in the air. You would not be able to take off running full speed. You most likely would be able to break my neck. I’m shocked that this is an issue for you. I’m also not sure what mentioning his fight with the Justice League does for your argument. It’s established in basically all canons that Kryptonians are leagues above anyone else. Very, very rarely they’ll depict Diana as nearly as powerful as Superman but generally speaking he is on a completely different level and that appeared to be the case in the Snyderverse. There’s no consistency issue there. |

Cool. That's, you know, the entire basis of my point, so that element doesn't bother you. Just click that off switch on your brain, veg out until the credits roll, clap your hands when you see words on the screen. I'd venture a guess to say that in James Gunn's film Superman won't kill anyone, somehow, these no other choice scenarios will play out entirely differently, and the wonder and amazement you'll experience at the mere sight of it will be unmatched.
