I remember back in the late 60s & early 70s we had some small tremors here in Missouri. Just enough to rattle the windows or shake nick nacks on a shelf. Don't recall any since, well maybe from the Kelli - October thread

September 2006...here in Florida and it was reported on the news here.
I thought I had something wrong with me physically...as I vibrated with the shakes and was dizzy...then I heard the report.

I was about to ask which one ... then I reread your post. I think my last big one was Mt. Pinatubo ... but, have experienced many in the Philippines. 3.0 and 4.0 are kinda common and one doesn't pay much attention to them. Most of the time one does not experience an earthquake unless they are sitting or lying down.

The epicenter was Bagio (sp?). A high rise hotel or two collapsed and killed a bunch of folks. I was setting 500lb concrete fenceposts in the hills around the fuel farm a Subic Bay. After the quake, the supervisor was screaming at me for being a 3rd Class Builder and not knowing how to use a level. I just turned up the radio so he could hear what had happened, he had been standing next to the concrete truck and didn't even notice the quake.

I woke up and then there was an aftershock. I thought I was dreaming at first.

I was in Manila when the Baguio quake took place. It was terrible ... high rise buildings just fell down on top of the people inside. They have really done a fantastic job of rebuilding the city.

I think my last major quake was the 1992 Mt. Pinatubo volcano eruption ... which included major earthquakes.... probably about a 5 scale quake where I was. I felt some quakes that shook the bed in the fall of 2005 just before we departed. The first one was the major earthquake of 1977 that killed over 6K people ... most from the tidal waves. I was sleeping in a rural Filipino house and the G.I. (metal) roof was rattling so much it sounded like a jeepney going down the road.

I have lived in SF for over 12 years and the only thing I have felt was a trembler back in '95. Thank goodness.

My house was built in '26 and is still standing so I must be on solid ground.
