Chiefs trade 34th pick for Cassel and Vrabel

Chiefs just got Cassel, ON NFLN!

http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/2009/02...with_patriots/

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Saturday that the club has acquired QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel from New England in exchange for the Chiefs second-round pick (34th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft. The agreement is contingent on both players reporting and passing their physicals.

“I have a long history with both players,” said Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

Maclin would be a natural fit.

Well, I'd say targeting a guy like Chase Coffman in the draft would become a bigger priority, but I'm a guy that thinks having a pass catching weapon at TE is a necessity.

We could easily end running a hybrid between the Pats offense and the Cardinals offense. This makes sense.

If you believe he was the 4th, or even 10th QB in the league last year, I have a bridge to sell you.

The 400 yard game he threw on the monday night was as poor a performance as anything Thigpen put up after the Atlanta game. It was a pathetic display.

His stats meant about what Chase Daniel's stats meant last season.

Not in position but in pre-draft perception. Ryan was widely regarded as a mehh qb, on par with Brian Brohm in the year's draft. Atlanta was expected to take DORSEY by most boards and when he fell to us, it was a coup. A coupe primarily because "mehh Ryan" went so high.

Again, overlooked even though he proved himself over a career & put up very good numbers. Overlooked because he came from a school not considered "elite" by the draftnics.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

It's laughable how much people on here bring up Carl Peterson and compare him with Pioli. Pioli is different folks he's won 3 rings trading for Veterans. Theres a reason Pioli is the highest paid GM in the league and you're posting on Chiefsplanet.

Well, I will say this: now I don't feel so bad about aquiring Vrabel for a draft pick.

Unless we trade down for a couple of late first/early second round picks.

Yeah, those injuries make him risky, but that speed/versatility makes him an attractive option. The fact that he measured at 6', ~200# at the combine also
helps.... he seems smaller than that. Could be because he is so g'damned fast & runs low.
