Honestly, at this point you can't rag on Cassel for a lot. Have some throws been arrant of hope? Yes, admittedly so, but he's also made quite a few throws that a lot of QBs don't make, and he hasn't been careless. Watching these games, it's obvious that when we make plays, it's because something spectacular happens, not because everything worked as designed.

This horrendous offensive line is the obvious focal point for me. Our offense is not really on the offensive. We aren't making calculated movements. It all looks like a reaction to whatever happens to them instead. Quit looking around, and get better at what you do. The defense should be reacting to you, not the other way around. We look like a team full of a lot of uncertainty.

With time, could Cassel be as accurate as anyone? We have yet to see what that looks like over any length of time (by which I mean more than one play, he's stuck in a rhythm of scared shitless). He makes every throw under duress. Though I would quickly agree that the completion percentage is suck, and the yard per attempt is just ugly. I would like to see the stat on hurries, or passing attempts made outside the pocket, which only really references about....what 95% of his attempts? Those projected stats have him hitting the turf by way of sack 60+ times....good god.

Everyone has to get better. It's cliche but it's true. I just think we could see a different QB if he had some protection and a receiver or two that know how to get open. I'm also changing my mind some on Haley's role and his ability to handle it all. HE NEEDS an Offensive Coordinator so he can do his job as Head Coach. I really feel like a few things this year, and I stress a few, have seemed like grasping at straws. I like that he's emotional, but he needs to be calculated.
