Matt Cassel reportedly losing support among Chiefs
Matt Cassel reportedly losing support among Chiefs
With four subpar games under his belt, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel is catching heat for the team's ugly 1-3 start. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reported the fourth-year starter is "losing confidence from players and many others in the organization." If Kansas City had someone more intriguing than Brady Quinn at the No. 2 spot, Cassel would be destined for the bench, according to Cole.
Cassel has struggled with just five touchdowns against seven interceptions. His 70.4 quarterback rating exceeds only that of Mark Sanchez, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden and Jay Cutler. Chants for Quinn and third-string sensation Ricky Stanzi bubbled up at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday during the Chiefs' 37-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers, but a switch at quarterback would require Pioli to admit defeat after years of insisting Cassel, his personal pick under center, had the goods. Cassel's 19-24 record has frustrated fans, as have his struggles against some of the league's weaker defenses this season. Cassel littered the field with three interceptions in Sunday's loss, but Romeo isn't budging. "I could have taken (running back Jamaal) Charles out because of his struggles and his problems, but he's also the one who can run for a touchdown," Crennel said. "(Those are) some of the decisions a head coach has to make and you have to go with your gut feeling, and what you know about your team and then move forward with it." What Crennel also knows about his team is that inserting Quinn into the starting role won't solve a larger problem in Kansas City. With young talent on both sides of the ball, the Chiefs were an enticing pick in the AFC West before the season. Finding out you don't have a quarterback, however, tugs the entire operation back to square one. |

yep, and why didnt Piloi convince Orton to stay in KC?
(because Orton was not gonna stoop as low as being a Backup to Cassel.) ![]()

Pisoli trying to save his own ass. What a ****ing loser this dude is. Poor old Romeo isn't smart enough to know he's being set up for the fall. Me thinks Pisoli would throw his own mother under the bus if it provided a small benefit to him

I'm just weary of this FO treating the fans as though they are complete fools. Now, I won't argue the fact that some Chiefs fans are utterly devoid of anything resembling a thought process. Nonetheless, not all are and the FO's continued contempt for our intelligence and abuse of our loyalty is shameful.

One guy that actually stood up for Cassel was Eric Winston.
That guy is a leader.

**** Winston. He's had one good game in KC so far. I'll give a shit what he has to say as soon as he stops letting Kroy Biermann push his shit in.

He is a very capable run blocker. The knock on him was his pass protection. He is only average there. The Texans wanted more pass protection with Schaub prone to injury. That's why they let him walk.

So Cassel is just a backup, not a starter. But the only guy who could replace him is Peyton Manning? And failing to nab him ... YOU DO NOTHING ELSE TO IMPROVE THE POSITION.
Quinn was signed just in case Cassel got hurt. Otherwise, there was NOBODY out there who could've pushed Cassel. That's what they're trying to sell us? That they KNOW Cassel sucks, but there's nothing they can do about it? |

It’s a little bit insulting for Pioli to come out now and blame Romeo for them sticking with Cassel.
If my boss told me to do one thing and then went to his bosses and told them that it was completely my call, I would quit the next day.
