Not to mention the trouble of shooting a gun in pitch black at night. Again, this only goes to situations where home invasions are people breaking in to get your stuff, not the ones where they are out for blood. And it seems like many home invasions today are poorly planned and simply people looking to steal things.

Do you own a gun?
my BIL did something like this not too long ago. He was sitting on the couch with his daughter when some guy knocked in the back door, armed with a pipe of some sort. BIL got up and cold cocked him, called the cops, then gave the intruder a few more licks to make sure he stayed down.

he asked if he was wrong to hit the guy a couple more times, I didnt think he was.

I went to sell an iphone to a couple of kids last month. The driver grabs it out of my hands and tries to run, I go around the front of the car to cut him off. Passenger sticks a 1911 colt 45 in my chest. They speed off. I asked the cop later...what would of happened if I shot the dude with the gun and killed him. He said you be fine.

I cold be wrong but I believe that most parents (and people as a whole) are very protective of their children. Based upon that, I believe a parent would do anything in their power to protect their children and they wouldn't think twice about taking an action against a threat if given the opportunity.

Disclaimer: I'm not a parent but am curious as to how you protect your family in cases like this.
You cannot.. Unless the gun is on her person, she has no time to grab it from anywhere..

I am a gun advocate, but it would of not helped in that situation.. And you would not want to leave a gun(even out of reach with a child) loaded in rooms. It is irresponsible..

I don't report them nor am I asking for a change in policy. Just remarking on how things work here.

It's better to have the racists out in the open anyway.

A good 870 pump action short barrel can be had for 300 bucks.

No clue in all honesty. I haven't paid that much attention. The only post I remember in this thread was an earlier one where you replied to me, and you seemed pretty spot on in that post. I'm certainly not the arbiter of racism, though.

I'll confess to some possible racism earlier in the day, though as a partial result of this thread.

I ran out to return our Redbox and grab another this evening. One of my kids went with me, one of our kids stayed home with the wife. As I'm backing out the driveway, a young (20 or so) black dude is running down our street. Not in gym clothes or anything. Just sort of jogging down the street in fairly regular street clothes. Didn't really look thugged out or suspicious, except he was running, our street gets almost zero random foot traffic, and what we do get has never been african american that I know of. Anyway, I was nervous/suspicious as hell the whole time I was at the Redbox and was having flashbacks to this thread.

Would I have been that suspicious if the dude wasn't black? Not sure. I don't think it was that he was black so much as the fact that he was very out of place/unusual. I would have been equally suspicious of some white dude dressed as a banger or a young long haired dude, possibly. I don't know. That's the kind of shit about racism that bothers me... when I start to question myself.
