I was sitting with OTWP and Phil at the Panther game...were talking about how they finally pulled their head out of their ass and put the ring of honor back up....I mentioned to OTWP when you look at the names...there's hardly ANYONE from the nineties on and very few from the eighties..and even then it's DT, NS and that's about it....THINK ABOUT THAT..IT IS 2012.

Arrowhead used to be the loudest stadium in the NFL..now they put up bs "get loud" on the digital adverstisement ring...They have completlely killed the atmosphere at tailgates...there is just no excitement , nor energy...they've successfully dumbed down the fans by overmonitering them, treating them like children, and made walking into the stadium like entering a correctional facility.

The rent out of town security guards are waaaaay too happy to get in your business over anything...the patronizing snitch on your fellow fans from the we're trying to promote a family atmosphere, buy our swimsuit calendars Cheerleaders is annoying as hell....They are in disarray with longtime Chief photographer Hank Young, who BTW, takes pics for the donks now...meaning that other than the Hall of PAST honor, you won't ever see the great pics of Chiefs players...ever seen the "other" player wearing 63 on the upper deck?

they've milked a cowtown for years, a midwest mentality of loyalty that has been trampled by BIG money owners who don't live here, an GM who treats the city media and it's fans like they aren't on the VIP list.

There is a reason they've only gotten close one time since SBIV. The game has passed them by, they don't field a complete team, they play not to lose and ultimately, have taken advantage of a once rabid fanbase and have turned it into an apathetic, lathargic boriing club where most come just to be seen. Been out there latlely? The employees of the team are snotty, arrogant and walk around like they're hot shit.....divison rival games?? pffft..even they don't carry weight... the fade own us. the donks own us.

They don't want to win NOW. how could they? carousel of coaches and coordiantors, crappy scouts drafting for projects instead of impact players, overpaying marginal players while letting others with value walk..lopsided rosters.etc ad anausem.

NOT DRAFTING A FIRST ROUND QB IN OVER TWENTY YEARS? Who the hell does that?

I think they are enamored with being an NFL franchise with a pretty past, than being a Championship franchise with a promising future.

They have no identity, there is no face to the franchise, they are a rudderless boat bumping into the shore periodacally, asking for directions, only to be lost a short time later...

it's past pathetic. it's past apathetic..it's gut wrenchingly awful and flat out embarassing....

And after this long, there's no damn excuse.

/off soapbox.
I agree with a lot of what you say here, but the frenzied atmosphere at Arrowhead was built in the 90s, not the late 60s. Not drafting a QB in the first round didn't prevent that. Nor did the failure to field a complete team or only getting close once.

Hunt hired the hottest GM prospect available and did so for big money

Pioli hired the hottest HC prospect available and tried to surround him with the quality high dollar coordinators.

sure, it all went to hell but it's not like they hired nothing

His first hire was the worst mistake he ever made. He traded for Matt Cassel before he had a head coach.

That like Whitlock says was his original Sin. It just started out ****ed up.

I'd day the dry spell started under Herm's 2nd year. Which maybe is good cause that means we are 5 years into our suckage.

Geno or not, I still say we are 3 years away from being legit, although with the amount of suckage sauce in the AFC West we could still easily compete for the division next year if CHunt makes the right moves.

with Herm, i expected to suck for 2 reasons. Herm's not a great coach, and i knew going into his 2nd year that this team was building from the ground up. I was ok with it, it was time to do it. The team got old. Then we did what this team is known for, not getting a ****ing decent qb . With Pioli, i was like ok, we been rebuilding this team has some young players to work with and well year 4, we are possibly worse.

You just cannot keep your job when your franchise gets blown out by the Cleveland Browns!!!!!!!!! We have taken over the factory of sadness. Browns at least have something nice to work with and are on the up and up. Well kinda. lol

29-64 since 2007!

Ive said over and over again, it doesnt have to be a rebuild and take 3 years. Teams can turn it around quickly if they put the right pieces in place. Mainly Head coach and QB.

Of course, i have very little faith in Clarks ability to find the right pieces......

Look how quickly the Niners and Colts turned it around.

The dry spell REALLY started in 2000, Gunther's 2nd year.

We had a brief period of "rain" under Vermeil but those years were largely fruitless as well.

Even though KC has a past record of keeping GMs way too long even though they suck major ass, I don't think the media in today's world will let them get away with it this time and going forward. SOC, local media, and even nationally, the proof is in the pudding. It is all a product of todays world of social networking, being plugged into the news cycle 24/7, and everyone leaning on the internet for anonymous opinions.

Now, this does not mean that what the OP is saying can't happen. It can, I just don't think it will be for lack of trying to get better.

Herm finally brought the team what the members of this messageboard were calling for for years. He convinced Peterson and Hunt to tear it all down and do a real rebuild instead of trying to string things along year after year. At the very least he deserves credit for that and for bringing in most of the decent players that are on the team now.

FTR, Herm was a good talent evaluator, he was just in over his head as a HC. Now if Herm had the right coaches and coordinators around him the rebuild would have came off after his 4th year. We would have had a team that was most likely very talented and contending The sad part is we still would of had Herm as our HC. It would have been up to the OC,DC & the ST coaches to win the games with game planing, not the HC adjusting at the half.

Would of had a lot of low scoring 9 - 6, 10-6 type games it would have been the norm.

I guess you could be scared that the next QB we pick is a total slapdick.

If that happens we're in for another 3-4 years of misery I guess.

I have a good feeling whether it's Geno or Wilson. Anyone else, slapdick potential is higher.

I'm only scared that sometime in April I'm going to hear "With the first pick of the 2013 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Manti Te’o, linebacker, Notre Dame."
