Not knowing which is actually a better marksman I shall abstain until we hear from the competitors but if going strictly off of the weapon and environmental factors I would give the edge to Sofa King.
PR has the backup weapons, but only 8 rounds and the M-1 is roughly 2 pounds heavier (10 1/2 to 8 1/2 or so). Not a huge issue, but waist deep in the river it may be.

I wonder which weapon does better in water? If you jam up wading around in there, you're a dead man.

Neither one would have a big issue assuming both had been properly maintained prior to the fight and further assuming it didn't go on for an extremely prolonged period of time (I see no reason it should if either of them can shoot).

It really would boil down to their abilities. The effective range on both are comparable.

Comes down to who is the best shot. In this case I go with the couch guy only because he has more rounds.

Yeah, I'm going to have to go with the more modern weapon with a bigger magazine. I looked them up and they both are well within their range at 834 feet, but since the M-16 has a longer effective range I'm going to assume that it can be fired with greater accuracy by your average planeteer.

so you got between 24-35 of 40. Keeping in mind that only four of those 40 targets are 300 yards, I assume you missed at least 3 of those 4. The range given here is near that 300 yard mark......

decisions, decisions

He's 30ish.....I highly doubt he had training with the M1. If he had the M-16 (which he likely shot, A2 I'm guessing) I would see a clear winner. As it is, I must hear from Sofa King with his 12 extra bullets and the gun that's easier to handle.

Marksman 23-29
Sharpshooter 30-35
Expert 36-40

I scored 34.

You are correct, my training primarily consisted of the M-16 and M9. I do have some experience with an M1 though honestly I've only fired about 50 rounds.

Other things to take into consideration. If we are in the Amazon, I am likely better trained at camouflaging myself as well as finding appropriate cover and concealment. With the added time bonus, I could situate myself and simply camp his ass. If we both run out of ammunition, I have the advantage as I can remove the bayonet and dual wield it along with the Bowie.
