Not knowing which is actually a better marksman I shall abstain until we hear from the competitors but if going strictly off of the weapon and environmental factors I would give the edge to Sofa King.
PR has the backup weapons, but only 8 rounds and the M-1 is roughly 2 pounds heavier (10 1/2 to 8 1/2 or so). Not a huge issue, but waist deep in the river it may be.

Neither one would have a big issue assuming both had been properly maintained prior to the fight and further assuming it didn't go on for an extremely prolonged period of time (I see no reason it should if either of them can shoot).

It really would boil down to their abilities. The effective range on both are comparable.
