Objectively this is a really nice get for Cincy. He's a clear upgrade for them on a middle class LT price tag.

This entire affair leaves a pretty shitty taste in my mouth to be honest.
Perhaps, but it would only be because we were all ignorant to what his actual market value in the NFL was, which we learned yesterday. It's not like he left money from other organizations on the table to sign with the Bengals as a **** you to the Chiefs. They offered him the most guaranteed over the longest period. He just isn't nearly as highly regarded as some thought.

Brown isn't a top 10 LT. If anything, Brown was lucky to get as much as he did from the Bengals. Even that was an overpay IMO. Burrow's broken femur will agree with me.

The annoying aspect is apparently Brown and his s****y agent were most ignorant of his value, right up until the BENGALS offered it. Fine, whatever, but I repeat - f**k the Bengals and f**k Brown's dumbass agent. Looking forward to drafting a speed rusher...

There was zero chance KC was ever going to sign Brown for that. They offered more last year and he said no. They most likely offered something similar again and he said no again. KC let him walk and test the market where he realized he wasn't worth what he thought he was. KC had already moved on so Brown wasn't coming back, plus his pride would probably not allow it.

He signed with Cincinnati because either it was the best he could get, or it was close enough and he wanted to stick it to KC.

Are we seriously worried about the Bengals signing this trash? Seriously?

OBj sucks dick. As mobile as Burrow is and as much as the Bengals throw the ball, I'd put the O/U on sacks given up at 12.

This signing is a wash for them at best. Brown is simply not good and never will be at LT. He'll be average at best and get his ass kicked at worst on any given day.
I’m not a fan of the guy talent-wise but for a team that cant afford a premium left tackle but desperately needs an OL, it isn’t the worst thing to get a halfway decent (even if not great) LT for way less.

But if the situation were reversed there's no question how this would be viewed.

(But watch Taylor's feet and you'll feel a little better. Man he has nice balance. Those little steps he takes to keep himself centered and remain 'athletic' are so very nice; he might be a damn good one...)
I still believe that Taylor will surprise people. I just don't see KC doing this unless there was belief that he could play the position as well or better than Brown Jr. If Reid did not believe this, KC probably resigns Brown Jr or looks to move up in the draft for a LT. They don't pay Taylor $20 mil a year.

Well, yeah, he just spent the past few days getting beat over the head repeatedly with the fact that he's not considered an elite LT like he and his agent thought.

Negotiating with irrational people is incredibly hard.

Clearly that’s what Veach and and Chiefs were facing.

To be a fly on the wall in those negotiations. I've never seen the Chiefs organization make it that obvious they were so sour after the fact.

Yup. Once Veach removed the tag the bridge was burned with no going back. Brown Jr. found out that he wasn't worth what he thought, and no way Veach was going to offer the original contract again.

Burrow is going to get destroyed. Keep in mind Brown has only ever played LT (or RT for that matter) for Jackson and Mahomes, two of the most athletic and mobile QBs in history. It's going to be really bad for them.
Good post. Exactly the way I see this entire situation.
