Bills/ Bengals [cancelled - process in OP]

In case anyone needs it spelled out, we would play at a neutral site if the AFCCG ends up being Chiefs vs. Bills. All other scenarios abide by the usual rules (so any other game the Chiefs play will be at home).

But why? It’s 48hrs after the situation arose. Nothing has been upended in our lives. The Chiefs are playing on Saturday just as before and the stakes are very, very, very likely the exact same.

I get being impatient because this is such a unique turn of events that has people’s minds scrambled with the possibilities, but frustrated? Angry? Meh.

Not opposed to this idea at all, but is this something the Bills are even given a choice on? Considering how many injuries they've had, and being this close to playoff time, do they want to risk any further injuries heading into the dance by playing the Cincy game?

Ima stop you right where you said “very likely the exact same”

It is or it isn’t the same. You can’t hedge with ****ing Playoff Seeding. Pray for the Bills players but also **** them if they think it’s unfair

Yup. Honestly, two full weeks without Chiefs football in January seems painful from a fans’ perspective and I would seriously worry that the team comes out flat.

But I like the thought of having at least a week off going into the playoffs, even if every team will have that advantage.

Let me just dispel everyone of the notion of them playing the game. It’s a dumb ****ing idea at this point, and you are tarnishing the competitive image of the league by giving them a do over.

Teams watch games and sit player based on seeding. It’s complete horse shit to force our guys to play to win on Saturday for the 1 seed just to rip it away from them.

On here, on TV, on Twitter. This was a truly shocking play because of how routine it was.

Things will get back to normal but I'd bet money everyone on every team is going to feel weird stepping back out there this weekend. I wouldn't be shocked if some guys have a real hard time with contact this weekend. It's going to take a minute to get back in that routine where you're not thinking about that play and the game becomes natural again. Doesn't matter how old they are.
I expect the tackling to be really bad.

I also want the league to just call the game a no contest and move on. Just rip the bandaid off.

KC gets 1 seed. Bills get 2 seed. Cinci gets 3 seed. (assuming all win)
Or better, NFL call it a forfeit and KC gets the 1 seed. Bengals get the 2 seed. Bills get the 3 seed. Bengals should not be penalized because Buffalo went home.

No. They never should have added the 7th team to begin with. It was perfect the way it was before. But money and stuff.

But at this point, it’s probably a bit unfair to take away a defined playoff spot from some team (whichever team wins it) that knows they will be getting a ‘chance’ to compete for a championship.

Dude, I’m with you. I had to reword that several times. I can’t guarantee that there isn’t some off-the-wall solution that screws us, but I strongly think if the game isn’t ruled no contest then the overwhelmingly likely outcome is an extra week in the season. And end of the day we still need to beat the Raiders.

It is not horrible. If I am right the Bengals would get "screwed" the most out of this. If they beat the Bills both teams would have to play in Week 20 (AFC Wildcard weekend) and if they both win they would play each other again in the divisional round

I’m for getting rid of the 7 seed permanently. It screws the 2 seed out of a bye week and adds some mediocre 8 or 9 win team to the playoffs.

They'll add an 8th seed before they get rid of the 7.

-So this would take away a week between Champions games and the Super Bowl. Playoffs before the SB would take 4 weeks instead of the regular 3 weeks.

-ALL AFC teams would get a full week off before playoff games except Bill and Bengals.

-NFC teams get a bye week between WC and Divisional games.

-BOTH AFC and NFC #1 seeds, this could change for the AFC after week 19, get two straight bye weeks.

I don't like it and honestly IF the plan on having Bills/Bengals play they should move BOTH Bills/Pats and Bengals/Ravens game to SAT and then IF needed have them play that make up game on Wed. This is a normal short week schedule and then just have the AFC WC games on Sunday so again it would be a normal short week schedule. OR even put AFC WC games on Monday to give 1 extra day.

not going away too much $$$$$$$. It sucks, because we would be the 1 or 2 most of the Mahomes years, like Brady was...
