Pass Line bets are always in the houses favor. (I was thinking about providing a bunch of math and explanation here...). The long and short of it is that the house has about a 1.5% overall advantage on this bet.(Now for those of you who don't know...this is a very small advantage for most casino bets. For example betting on 'any craps' will be around a 12% house advantage depending on the casino, and most American roulette bets have over a 5% house advantage). The Odds bet has ZERO house advantage...it is a true 50-50 bet as MoreLemonpledge stated. (Seldom found in a casino) So the trick is to maximize the 'odds' bet, which is why the allowed multiplier is so important, and it is important that you take advantage of it as much as possible. The casino wins because to get the 'odds' bet you must place the less lucrative 'pass line bet'. The ratio these bets are allowed in makes a difference in your overall percentages. A $3 'pass line' bet with $60 'odds' behind (20x) is much better than a $5 'pass line' bet with $10 'odds' behind (2x).
