Well it took a few years but yes, she gets it. Holidays are an enormous waste of money if you don't have anything you want that time of the year. Getting a gift just because it's December 25th is pretty stupid. What if there isn't anything I need/want? Get nothing so that if something comes up at some other time during the year, we don't have to feel guilty or feel the money pinch about spending the money on something we need/want.
