Alex played the game of his life and he was BETRAYED by the defense

Alex Smith dropped 44 points on the Colts and somehow still lost. Alex is a hero. 44 points can win you a SUPERBOWL. What happened to the best defense in the league? They sure weren't out there tonight. You could cut all of them and it wouldn't matter. What matters is having Alex.

Te defense absolutely completely shat their collective britches in the second half, but why do most discount the turnovers caused and the times they gave the ball to the offense in scoring position only to walk away with 3 rather than 7.

A hell of a lot more lies at the feet of the defense than the offense, but it's silly IMHO to let them completely wash their hands of it.

This is likely one topic though that many will never agree on.

It's obvious that some people here will never change. Once they've made up their mind about someone, they'll never see him as good enough, even if he plays as good as one should realistically expect.

I hated Alex Smith, at first. I thought he was a slightly better Matt Cassel. Now I know that he's more around the level of Trent Green, and I know what good he did back in the day. If other people don't want to admit it, then they can wallow in their own hatred until they get their golden boy. As for me? This is the best QB we've had in a decade and until he starts sucking, I'll support him.

As I said , he had a good 1st half, but the difference is that Luck recovered from his mistakes and showed why he is the most revered young QB since Peyton Manning.

He did everything you can expect of a player, he wasn't perfect.

He is blameless for the loss, he was nails.

Any fan, any coach, any where, any time would take that performance any game and every game from any QB, Rogers and Manning included.

To even discuss any thing to do with AS in that game other than how great the performance was is just ****ing stupid.

Should they extend him, yes. The numbers being thrown around are insane no way should they do it for those numbers.

But yes they should to a cap friendly number.
