Pats Cheating Comfirmed
According to the report, the league sources say the NFL determined 11 of the 12 footballs used by the Patriots were under-inflated by two pounds per square inch each. Per NFL rules, footballs are required to be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 PSI and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces.

Ok serious question:
is the OP's title correct? is it REALLY confirmed that the pats cheated? I am not following this story that closely I understand the balls pressure were low but has it been confirmed 100% this was some intentional cheating? did the refs actually 100% say they checked the balls before kickoff? (I noticed they checked the balls AT half time....but did they check them before the game and the pressure was fine?)

Looking through that fumble data, I realized that he's doing offensive plays over total fumbles. The problem with that is that fumbles can also occur on kick-off/punt returns. This is not only a general problem, but it is concerning in this case because those plays wouldn't involve the Patriots' special ball, the players would be using a normal kicking ball.
So, I went through his data for each team over the last 5 years, and took out all of the fumbles that occurred on special teams, so we can look at just fumbles per offensive play, with each team using their quarterback's preferred ball. If you looked at at the original analysis, this was the ONLY metric (plays per fumble over the last 5 years) where the Patriots did not rank #1. ![]() As you can see, 29 teams are grouped pretty closely, between 44.8 and 71.9 plays per fumble. The 3 teams at the end are New Orleans (80.7), Atlanta (91.5), and New England (101). Not only does New England lead the league, they are the only outdoor team in the top 3.

correct me if I am wrong but wouldnt the patriots LEAD that same graph in #of punt returns(due to more forcing punts,) per offensive play as well? so they would have more opportunities per offensive play to fumble?

I mean if that chart is correct the pats and saints and even atlanta are EXTREMELY deviated from the mean...
i am not going to do a standard deviation, i will leave that to others but jesus it seems like the pats are like 3 standard deviations(rough estimate) away from the mean...which has a VERY VERY low chance (less than 1%) almost to the point where they would be an outlier that would be ignored

Yes, I removed kicking plays because the Patriots wouldn't be able to use their own footballs for those plays.

The Broncos were allowed to go to the sidelines and "wipe off". They should have been all tossed from the game at worst but at the least, made to shower and change jerseys and oh yea, BTW, we aren't holding up the game for you, either. |

Actually dude was out of bounds. Now, did his toe touch down before his heel? Too close to call but he was out. I would say more that they ****ed us with a holding call on a FG attempt.
