Lucky to be 2-2

Kinda stating the obvious here, but given how lackluster our play has been, winning 2 games is akin to being a miracle. The D was obviously stellar vs the Jets, but beyond that, their play has been below par -- not entirely unexpected given our youth at corners. DL play has been spotty, as has LB play.

Offensively, OL has played like shit, runners have fumbled and WRs have dropped several balls. Top this off with a QB that is playing pretty much at bottom of league level, and one wonders how we even won 2 games!

Kinda tells me that we do have some talent on this team as teams with lesser talent would not have won 2.

That said, unless this team shores itself up on serval fronts, this is going to be a very underwhelming season. And, as usual in football, it all kinda starts with the QB. Alex has gotta up his game....and hopefully that'll carryover to the rest of the team as well.

Just siting here watching college football, and was spurred to share this most obvious reflection.

You overestimate me, I've DEFINITELY been caught off guard this year

In no way, shape or form did I expect this team to look so disjointed in the first quarter of the season... a hot start, even without Charles and Houston, was fully expected

But then I found out that...

Reid still loves him some screens

Smith really is just an average game manager

Our O linemens ankles and heads are made of paper mache

Ware is still a bull, unfortunately that means he has hooves for hands

Then I realized that...

Ford has 1 sack in 4 games

Bailey and Howard have turned back into pumpkins

Tambas knees have turned into chalk and Peters is susceptible to the deep ball

Other than that, we're doing great

It's just a football team. There's college NCAA football, NHL hockey, NCAA wrestling. I'm not even sure how ya get pissed or surprised at this point.

Nice basic thread. I'll offer 10 things I think are the biggest problems based on my eyeball test. If anyone can dispute them (or confirm) with A-22, I'm all for it.

Offense

1. Mitch Morse is playing bad. He's allowing pressure up the middle and isn't sustaining blocks. Is he less aggressive in staying at center after the concussions in 2015?

2. Zach Fulton is a terrible guard. Too often allows quick pressure and needs help from the center too frequently. Fulton's best position is clearly center, where he can operate in a phone booth.

3. Alex Smith is missing far too many reads. He's creating artificial pressure on himself by either not stepping up into a clean pocket, or rolling out into the tackle arcs. More often than not, Alex is not under pressure by NFL standards. The offensive line is playing far better than Alex is making them look, especially the tackles.

4. Spencer Ware needs to get the fumbling back under control.

5. Play calling has been suspect in the red zone, where Reid has been too cute with the passing game.

Defense

1. Sutton is asking Peters, a perfect press and cover 2 type corner, to play off man far too frequently.

2. The scheme needs to change from single high safety to two deep. The youth at CB is getting exposed and there isn't over-the-top help to make up for it.

3. Justin March is out of position. He should be playing DJ's role, and that isn't happening this season. He's getting washed out and can't get through the blocks. It really is time to see what either Sam Barrington or Sio Moore can offer to help shore up the gashing in run defense.

4. Allen Bailey should be on the bench. He's getting no pressure and being washed out of plays. His counterpart, Howard, is playing below average to make matters worse.

5. Dee Ford is useless playing from the left side because he doesn't have the strength to take on right tackles. He doesn't look overly useful anywhere, but he certainly needs a shot at ROLB sooner than later. Hali should be able to play either side, so I don't understand not making the swap.

No NFL team is "lucky" to win 2 games out of four, especially when the two losses are on the road against 2015 playoff teams.

Get real, idiots.

Gotta beat playoff teams to be a contender. Chiefs are a pretender.
