Game ball Berry, but....

Alex Smith went vertical today and he was nails minus the overthrown pass. He looked damn good today.

If he plays like today, he's a guy that could easily lead this team going forward.

I'm as critical as anybody when Alex doesn't play well. But today is the type of play his critics want to see on a regular basis. He wasn't just a game manager today. And while he missed two key throws on one drive, he also put the nail in the coffin with an excellent slant throw to ice the game which was one of the biggest plays in the game.

That's what the spread does. You go vertical when they have 8 in the box (including alley)

Agree 100%, and while I certainly wont cry when he is replaced... its dumb to bag on him too much for this game, he was efficient in the extreme

It was an A game for Alex Smith, you can definitely win with a performance like that

The reality is he is the QB for this year and nearly certainly next minimum. With that being the case, I will sign up for these types of games from him.

The entire Falcons board is talking about trying to get Berry in the offseason but the idiots fail to realize they used a first round pick to get Neal since they couldn't get Berry. They may quite possibly be the dumbest fan base after Oakland

For all the contracts we have out there...there's no way you can dish out more than 7.5 a year for a safety unless we're willing to say goodbye to Poe and build depth with our draft picks, which may be fine with the comp picks we should be receiving.

The biggest need right now is at ILB and unless we got Jamie Collins, then Dorsey is going to use the 1st or 2nd rd pick to get one. Corner is the likely other pick based on how things are going...

What did our Dline do today? I am a Poe fan but keeping him over Berry is dumb.

I was wrong. Ware didn't slow down. It was just a flat out miss.

Even with Alex being great today, we wouldn't have won without the 9 points Berry gifted us. They played better than we did, as is to be expected as the away team with crowd noise. Berry earned his paycheck today, and if he keeps it up, I say pay the man to be your leader after DJ and Tamba hang it up, regardless if you don't "Pay a safety that much". You also should never draft a Safety in the top picks of the draft and that worked out pretty well for us.

Alex Smith was great today. The nitpicking is ridiculous. Look at the horrendous mistakes Matt Ryan, an MVP canidate, made today.

Sure he didn't have a perfect game and the pass to Ware was horrible. But hey it happens... He was very accurate today and most importantly, no INTS. No QB is going to have a perfect game. Every QB has throws he wishes he could have back every game.

But if Alex Smith keeps playing like that and Maclin gets healthy and starts playing like he did last year will our offense is going to be good.

I've always said he's a good game manager and not a bad QB. He plays smart and wins games. He's one of the most underappreciated QBs because of his playing style IMO.
