That's on the Chiefs. They selected Peters, not the other way around. |

So at this point can we get a new thread with the trade details if leaked? This thread is basically on repeat at this point but I can't help reading every comment just in case something was leaked.
If no new thread, I'll just check back in when the league year starts. |

I think Brett likes to strike while the iron is hot. He must have felt like keeping Peters around for another season or two was too risky and could have resulted in them getting almost nothing for him. I mean, the Chiefs just had to cut LJ. They got nothing for him. There was an injury involved there, obviously, but if the Chiefs felt a character issue was going to catastrophically undermine Peters' value in the future in a similar manner, they did the right thing. Between Mahomes, Alex and now this you can clearly see they have a long-term outlook for the franchise.

I don't think so. Some here are acting like Reid and the Chiefs are incompetent. That they're clueless how to handle "difficult" player situations. They're not. Hill was a sticky situation to enter into and it's working. The Chiefs AND the player are doing what they need to. It's always a two way street. It's not just on the Chiefs to handle a difficult player. The player has to take responsibility as well.

The defense is in absolutely terrible shape, maybe as bad as it's been in 15 years.
The Chiefs have three D-Lineman under contracts and their best player is coming off of another surgery. They have 2 linebackers under contract in Eligwe and Ragland. Hali is a goner, Houston's no where near worth his payday, Kpassongon is a huge question mark, as is Dee Ford. Only a few cornerbacks are under contract in Fuller, Nelson and some scrubs. Their safeties, beyond Berry, and no one know how long his body will hold up, are generally well below average in Sorensen, Murray and an average Ron Parker. Beyond that, depth is needed everywhere. |

No, that's on the Chiefs for drafting a well known malcontent and expecting him to change who he is as a person and as a competitor. We got exactly what was advertised when we drafted Marcus Peters. Advertised All Pro talent. Advertised nutcase. You can't just draft a leopard and expect it to change its spots. That's just dumb.

The Chiefs gave Marcus Peters an opportunity to earn 1st round money and a contract extension if he played well. He played well enough in 2015 and 2016 but his quality of play dropped off in 2017. His play, in a vacuum, is absolutely no reason to trade him, especially without trading him for a premium return. Marcus Peters bears responsibility for his actions on the field and off the field. Four Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties, jawing with the fans, throwing a flag into the stands and quitting on his team have absolutely NOTHING to do with Andy Reid, his coaching staff, the front office and ownership. His petulant behavior lies solely on the shoulders of Marcus Peters, The Chiefs Franchise and its players are not responsible for keeping Peters "in line". That's on Marcus Peters. |

Most people do, especially those presented an incredible opportunity to play a game for millions upon millions of dollars. If said person stays the same (or in this case, regresses), that's on the person, not the owner, coaches, training staff, front office or other players. |

Nelson and Ford are on the trade block? Where’d we learn this?

Marcus wears his welcome out after a few years. He did it at Washington with the Huskies and now with Kansas City. I’m going to believe he’ll wear his welcome out anywhere. Even in Oakland, if they took him, he would’ve wore out Del Rio. Maybe Gruden could’ve gotten to him I don’t know. But if Reid can’t get to him, no one can but maybe his father. That’s the only spot he’s been on top of it (high school).

KC tried to trade Nelson and they asked for Robert Quinn in the deal. That says a lot about Ford.
