Score immediately vs. run clock

I don't think this is egregious clock management, but...

1st and goal on the 10 yard line. Down by 3 (44-47). 2:50 on the clock. Chiefs have 3 timeouts. Rams have none.

Am I crazy to think we should have run Kareem a couple times there? I know the Rams scored in 45 seconds on the next drive, but it sure feels like that would have put a lot of pressure on them to score, and I'm pretty confident we could have gotten in for the TD even if we just ran it 4 times.

Discus.

You can't assume you will get the TD. I know it always sounds good but when you are trailing you score and expect your defense to hold a team out of the end zone for one drive.

We should have. Thats twice now we screwed ourselves leaving time on the clock. Does Andy see our defense. They stink so bad you cant expect them to stop anyone with the game on the line.

They definitely should have ran it a few times. Ironically, even when giving us a hit to the helmet call on Harris the refs found a way to screw us. That shouldn’t have been a penalty. If that doesn’t happen it’s 2nd and 6 and we can run some clock and get the first down without scoring.

We scored too soon

If we are so good on offense then we dictate the tempo of the game that's how you "manage" a game winning drive.

Nope. We got the ball back twice with opportunities to win or tie. That's exactly the position we realistically could have hoped to be in. The offense spit the bit. Just not quite good enough to win these types of games I guess, considering we've played in two and lost them both by the same margin

I like being aggressive and going for the TD.

We've lost two big games by not bleeding clock, so I suppose we should look into it.

Law of averages says the defense should be able to come up with a stop once in a while, but I don't trust this secondary against the elite QB we're likely to face in the postseason.

If anyone scored too fast, it was the Rams, IMO. We had that ball with 1:49 left on the clock and all 3 timeouts in the pocket. I felt very confident. I actually thought to myself that, for once, the other team "scored too fast."

Too bad we couldn't take advantage of it.

Sucks that Mahomes' arm got hit on that Peters INT.

I mean in an ideal world your defense should be able to stop someone. In our case that's just not true.

None the less you score when you score. too many things can go wrong in subsequent plays.

I do admit I was glad the rams scored quick on us though.

The time to run clock was before the 1st and Goal. Unfortunately Robinson going out of bounds and the penalty ended up hurting us. There was too much time once it was 1st and Goal.... wouldn't have been able to run much more off (needed 2 plays just to get to the 2-minute warning). At that point you have to give yourself the best chance to score a TD.

I think with Hunt and rams pass rush giving us trouble we should have run it a bunch there. Especially once we got to mid field.
Nuts game tho. You could remove one of a dozen plays and the final score is flipped.

Have no issue whatsoever going for touchdowns. They don't fall from trees. Weve had too many Alex Smith games where we settled for safe scores instead of going for the throat. If our defense can't hold serve on a 4 pt lead that's on them.

you run hunt kill the clock score a TD

one thing that hosed us was when the refs threw a flag and made it where we got 1st and goal. if we could have gotten a first down and run it a few times we could have ran it off then scored.
