What's wrong with Mecole Hardman - Part 2

Spoiler alert!

Nothing is wrong with him! Unless you consider Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce as being a problem.

Mecole was 3rd on the team in targets (62), rec yards (560), and rec TDs (4). Those stats are right in line with any other teams 3rd most productive receiver and none of those other teams had 2 guys that were 1st team AP in front of that guy.

Green Bay Packers #1 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Robert Tonyan - 59 targets, 52 rec, 586 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 212
Rec - 148
Yards - 2064

Buffalo Bills #2 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Gabriel Davis - 62 targets, 35 rec, 599 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 273
Rec - 209
Yards - 2502

Tampa Bay Buccaneers #3 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Rob Gronkowski - 77 targets, 45 rec, 623 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 193
Rec - 135
Yards - 1846

Tennessee Titans #4 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Jonnu Smith - 65 targets, 41 rec, 448 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 198
Rec - 135
Yards - 2059

New Orleans Saints #5 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Jared Cook - 60 targets, 37 rec, 504 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 189
Rec - 144
Yards - 1482

Baltimore Ravens #7 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Willie Snead - 48 targets, 33 rec, 432 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 188
Rec - 116
Yards - 1470

Seattle Seahawks #8 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
David Moore - 47 targets, 35 rec, 417 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 261
Rec - 183
Yards - 2357

Indianapolis Colts #9 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Michael Pittman Jr. - 61 targets, 40 rec, 503 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 164
Rec - 99
Yards - 1391

Las Vegas Raiders #10 ranked scoring offense
3rd most productive receiving option
Hunter Renfrow - 77 targets, 56 rec, 656 yds

Top 2 options
Targets - 227
Rec - 155
Yards - 2092

Average for top 10 scoring offense's 3rd most productive receiving option :

Targets - 62
Receptions - 41
Yards - 530

Average for top 10 scoring offense's top 2 most productive receiving options combined :

Targets - 212
Receptions - 147
Yards - 1918

This is how Hardman stacks up against the other teams 3rd receiving option

Targets - 62 (62 avg)
Receptions - 41 (41 avg)
Yards - 560 (530 avg)

Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce combined

Targets - 280 (most in group)
Receptions - 192 (2nd most in group)
Yards - 2692 (most in group)

So what we can see from these stats above is that nothing is up with Mecole Hardman. His targets and reception matched the average of the 9 other top offenses 3rd receiving option and he was above average in yards, but the big huge difference is Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill just happen to be on the same team as him. Those two have 68 more combined targets, 45 more combined receptions, and 774 more combined yards than the others teams top 2 receiving threats.

TLDR;

Nothing is wrong, he's right in line with the other teams 3rd most productive pass catchers. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are monsters and the best pass catching duo in a long ass time.

PS:

Seriously Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are so good! There was only 11 QBs with more TD passes than those 2 had receiving TDs.

PSS:

****ing Cam Newton started 15 games and had 45 less passing yards than Hill and Kelce had rec yards in the same amount of games!

PSSS:

****ing MVP Lamar had 65 more passing yards than Hill and Kelce had rec yards and they tied for the same amount of passing TDs to receiving TDs.

Mecole is only 23, talented, low cap hit and doesn't have a history of injuries. He will be a Chief at least until the end of the 2022 season.

Really issues his rookie season? A ****ing rookie having issues omfg!!

His second season never mind a makeshift offensive line that really made it hard for everyone but we still managed to go to the ****ing Super Bowl and Hardman made plays to help us get there. So many issues.

Tyreek was a gadget player his first couple years. We will see how the season unfolds I could be way wrong and then that will be on Veach to fix the problem but until the season unfolds I'm a believer in Hardman kicking ass this season.

That is my own opinion and opinions can be wrong but we will see.
What the ****?!?! No he wasn't . He was a gadget player for all of half a season until Andy made him a full-time WR. And then the next season he put himself in the conversation for top 5 WR in the league.

Serious question why are you discounting Mecole Hardman contribution against the Bills in the AFCC to propel us to the Super Bowl? Just because its' a jet sweep and screen pass? He made the plays that his number was called upon to do.

Why don't you think he can improve as a WR and be a viable #2 in this offense? Do you not think he works hard as in not believing what Tyrann Mathieu said about him in practice?

Am I just the ignorant one that thinks players can improve going into their third season and make themselves more productive than in the past? Why can't Hardman be that guy to show improvement?

Tyrann Mathieu: Mecole Hardman taking things ‘personal’ as No. 2 receiver

Are you discrediting what Tyrann has to say about Mecole Hardman?

You guys are stuck on the past what ever that is but a guy can improve his third season players do it all the time.

Maybe he will suck how the **** do I know because I don't know and neither do you or any of you until the games unfold.

Yes you are right he started out as a gadget player then made himself a top WR by the next season.

I turn 47 this week now answer my questions.

Why can't Hardman improve and why are you discounting his contributions to winning the AFCC? Those were the plays that he was called to make and he made them so you can't take that away from that. Why can't he improve as a WR in this offense tell me why? Why don't you believe Tyrann Mathieu who says Mecole Hardman is improving as #2 WR? Why don't you believe him?

Why can't anyone answer my simple question? and that is why can't a third year WR improve being a WR?

Is it that hard of a question? Can third year players make themselves better than the year before?

It's like you're not reading and just emotionally defending Mecole for some reason.

He can improve, but the preseason games so far haven't shown it. Mahomes got pissed at him during a PRESEASON game. When they've had chemistry issues for the previous 2 years and Mahomes is a angry at him in a preseason game, what exactly am I supposed to take away from that that's positive? What did you take away from that?

And I'm really surprised tyrann supported a teammate publicly. I thought for sure he'd go to the media and shit on him. So I guess you're right.

Yes a 3rd year player can improve which is why it was so disappointing to see the same issues crop up multiple times already and we're just 2 preseason games in.

When you saw Mahomes get pissed at Hardman (again), what were your thoughts? I gotta know.

That this is preseason and can be fixed. Mecole was thrust to take on the #1wr as Tyreek was out of the game so maybe he was off a little i believe they can fix it in practice. Mahomes is highly competitive they both have made admits to making mistakes in press. Sometime Mecole will be called upon to take Tyreek so yes it needs fixed but again I'm not worried as much because this is preseason and they have a lot to work on before week 1 but there is time. I believe in Mecole and I believe he will make up for his mistakes as he did just that by scoring a touchdown. That's something you guys don't seem to want to give credit to him for bouncing back after making mistakes he goes back out there and makes a play.

Players aren't aloud to make mistakes in preseason to learn from.

Hardman had to line up for Tyreek as Tyreek was out of the game and he made a route mistake. This was not planned for Hardman to line up in Tyreek spot.

Again preseason.

Patrick will and should get pissed as he is the team leader and I'm sure Hardman got a ear full he still ended up scoring a touchdown and we won a damn preseason game.

We will get the opportunity to see how he responds this friday against the Vikes. Maybe if he sucks it will show right away and Veach can make a move before Sept 12.

Or he will have success and show his improvements. The game will tell.

Ok sooo Mahomes was pissed at Mecole Hardman running the wrong route that he subbed in for Tyreek that was a game time decision . Soo then they were off Q a couple times and Mahomes made a couple bad throws but lets not criticize Mahomes for misfires. Anyways in a preseason game that Mecole gets an ear full he responds by scoring a touchdown. Now to me if a player steps it up after getting an ear full rather than going to the bench and pout then that tells me Mecole is coachable from the players perspective.

So this Mahomes being pissed I'm sure in battles he will be pissed he takes the game serious and looks like so does Hardman because he went out and scored a touchdown. What was he supposed to do after making a mistake lay down?

I want a player like Mecole that will bounce back after making a mistake just like he did in the AFCC game that no one is giving him credit for making two plays when his number was called upon just because not a #2 Wr route. Who gives a **** we won the damn game did we not?

Criticize Mecole making mistakes but don't say he doesn't bounce back and redeem himself.
