Productivity or Favoritism

With the Chiefs defensive struggles, it has been painfully obvious to everyone but the coaching staff, that we are much more productive with certain players on the field over others.

A big part of this is that Steve Spagnuolo seems to play who his favorites are, over who can actually play.

As of right now, there is no way in hell any sane person moves Nick Bolton from where he is now. However, I'd be willing to bet significant amounts of money that as soon as Hitchens is available, Steve will waste no time ousting Nick Bolton from the spot he's become a wrecking machine from.

The fact that Dan Sorensen is even allowed to dress for games is an indictment on Steve Spagnuolos judgement. His continued insistence on playing Sorensen deep is absolutely mind numbing. The guy is done.

Niemann runs slower than old lady Jenkins down the street putters along behind her walker. I'd say she has better eyesight as well, even behind her blacked out oversized terminator glasses.

At a point, someone needs to pull rank on Steve and just demand that unless there's multiple injuries these guys don't see the field.

Is Melvin Ingram going to get significant snaps? Or will he have to earn his way into Steve's good ol boy network over a few weeks before he supplants one of Steve's boys?

With the stretch of games we have coming, Steve needs to get his head out of his ass, and get the best athletes on the field.

Even if they're not "his guys".

However, folks need to understand with the salaries we have on this team, that you need guys like Niemann, at the league minimum and good at special teams, on the team. I agree that they should have limited snaps and be primarily back ups.
Are you sure it was Boltons guy on the TD? Isn't that why Nieman was in on the play for, for covering the tight end because he is faster than Bolton?

Niemann may not be fast, but he's not very strong either. He's very weak at the point of attack.

That's the most positive thing I can say about him.

It's obviously favoritism. Neither he or Sorenson are the least bit productive, no matter what metric you use.

Seems like Spags has a bit of Reid's stubbornness. Almost like he wants to prove people who are rightfully screaming to bench Niemann and Sorenson wrong.

Watch the replay, it was either Bolton not dropping or Spags scheme. Niemann was in the middle on that play and could never cover that receiver even if he was Ray Lewis...

Not too hard to understand why Spags defenses always fall off hard. Could you imagine being a young hungry player that can't get any time because he favors washed up JAGs that "KnOw ThE SyStEm" I'd eventually lose interest in whatever he's spouting.

This is a good point. It's hard to "buy-in" when your leader won't even play the best players.

Part of the Hitchens/Bolton scenario is the old idea that a guy shouldn't lose his starting job due to injury. It's dumb, but I completely expect when Hitchens is healthy he will get more reps than Bolton. After it continues to be obvious that Bolton is better, then Spags will finally concede.

It's already obvious and he basically said today he's playing Hitchens. That is he will at least take some snaps away from him being the Mike.

Get ready to be frustrated some more Sunday.

Sorenson's snaps increased this last week too and it showed because he sucks. Hopefully that's not a trend back up but with spags I don't put it past him.

That's exactly the question I have every time I see a "Sorenson/Niemann is a shit player" thread. Could it be that Watts never has understood coverage and DOD's biggest hit might knock down a blow up doll?

DOD was a 3rd round pick in 2018 and Niemann an UDFA in 2018. You can hardly call DOD "young, hungry player" over Niemann. Watts was a 4th rounder in 2018, so he's not that young and probably eats pretty well when he can find the table.

Understand I'm not defending Sorenson and Niemann, but only pointing out neither Watts or DOD have done much to prove they're not just JAG ST guys.

Or THIS is a guy I trust in single coverage?

I just don't get it. The only place Sorensen can't really do any damage to us is in the box, as a Blitzer.

Even then, he likely doesn't get home and if by some miracle he does, odds are he's gonna miss the ****ing tackle anyway.

I mean what are the guys numbers this year? He's given up like 350 yards and 3 tds with like maybe 3 incompletions.

That #49 is a giant flashing billboard that advertises free yards, points, and amazing qbr.
We need them gone for practices also. Patrick needs to practice against a full NFL defense. Not the chiefs d plus the 3 stooges.

Spags ****ed the defense when he moved Jones and they brought Neiman and his buttbuddy Dirty Dan back.
