Ok Gang, Need Your Help With Ideas For a Charity Drive

It turns out that our very own Haywire used to be a semi-pro bullrider, and at his ancient age of 45 he is looking to ride one more monster next spring for charity... and recapture some of the old glory for himself, before he's too old to do it anymore

He has asked me for help, but the truth is I have NO experience with this kinda thing whatsoever... closest I ever got was donating $50 to SOC

Really needing help with this, and in fact would prefer to pass off the heavy lifting due to my inexperience

But the basic idea is to have the board donate whatever they can, and then donate 100% of the proceeds to charity

Haywire will provide training videos as he prepares over the winter, and then live stream the actual bull ride this coming spring

The biggest question is which charity, it could be anything from Wounded Warriors in honor of Randall Flagg, to something like the Make-A-Wish foundation

We want the board to decide that question, but beyond that would ANYONE like to help tackle this project?... because, again, I have no clue at all

Well, personally, I think now that you've found out how much it's gonna cost to rent the arena, it's time to start looking at a way to gather the donations.

How much $ for the 30 bulls from the livestock contractor? Cost for concession food and supplies? Will concession workers be volunteers?

Let's figure out the overhead, and we'll have a rough idea for the goal of donations.

Thats on me, been slacking... hoping I can work something out to consolidate donations, gofundme or whatever works best and is completely transparent

Its also on me to get with BRC to involve his network

The good news is we have until May

Another huge question...and admittedly, I'm totally naive to this one....if you have other riders, will you need some sort of insurance for the event? In case a rider gets injured?

Might be biting off more than you can chew with that one.

I guess what I'm asking is this...do rodeo events have to have health insurance in the event of injury to a participant?

I grew up around rodeos, but I was too young to be concerned with a question like that.

Just something to consider before going full out on this thing.

Haywire is wired into the MO rodeo community, he's not clowning here... just trying to raise a little hell, and hopefully some money for Wounded Warriors

Health insurance is not a requirement.

Rodeos have always been ride at your own risk.

I am going to talk to a local hospital today about having an ambulance and EMT at the arena

Maybe I could get some volunteers from here.

Bearcat fighting bulls would be worth the price of admission.

You don't need to worry about health insurance. You need to worry about liability insurance. Which will be costly for a venue with staff, spectators and animals.

My advice would be to stop working on this now until you have an attorney to represent your interests. If you can't afford one. Grift till you either have enough money for one, or stop the grift and move on before a big hole gets dug.

Grift?

Not sure what you mean by that.

This is 100 percent charity.

Get CP involved, the community involved and donate the money.

I've made several posts and made a few calls to try and find someone to handle the money side.

Last thing I want is for someone to think this is a scam.

The arena covers liability insurance.
The bulls are covered by the contractor

Do you have a flyer, a website? Any thing related advertising. Have you set up a 503c? Do you have insurance for a non-profit? Do you have anything in place to protect yourself from future litigation?

I'm sure Wounded Warriors will gladly take contributions in anyone's name without a rodeo. Maybe they don't want to be associated with that for a variety of reasons. Who really is this Randall guy anyway? Just a CP poster that no one has met? Are we for sure the book and his story is real? Have we seen physical evidence of either?

Why aren't you asking these questions to yourself?

I'm not really how to respond to half of this but I'll give it a try.

Advertising. Not yet. Trying to get all of my ducks in a row before I get that far.
501C3? Is that what you meant? This is a rodeo. One night thing. The Arena covers the insurance. Stock is covered by the contractor.

Not sure what the Randall part has to do with any of this.

I've asked myself plenty of questions....hence the reason I'm trying to figure this out and thought CP would be a fun place to start.

Webpage....no. Also why I'm asking for help.

Sure...I could flip a $20 to wounded warriors and call it a day......or we can make this a thing.

I apologize if you thought this was some kind of "grift" or scam.

You come off as someone who is skeptical but would like to help.

Arena.https://www.facebook.com/pages/categ...5499856392292/

Bulls. https://www.facebook.com/Haworth-Cat...2992040431332/

I would appreciate any help I can get. PM if you're interested.
