Bills fan Kyle Brandt caught flip-flopping in 4k

First, Kyle's opinion this week, after his Bills lost:

But he didn't always feel that way. Here he is in 2019, when KC proposed the rule change after losing to the Patriots in the same way:

I don't necessarily love/hate the sudden death aspect, but would much rather HFA determine who gets the ball first in OT... use something that's already been earned, not a freakin coin.

And go one way or the other... not the "score a TD and the game is over, but not over with a FG". I don't like changing rules for OT. Either do sudden death, guarantee one possession each, or do a 10 or 15 minute period.

I'd prefer the timed period for the playoffs, but would be fine with simply guaranteeing one possession each and sudden death after that.

He could have said all kinds of things related to "I'm sorry". This smacks of a convenient video edit. If he goes on to say "I'm sorry...you shouldn't let the offense score a TD", you totally have a case to make on his hypocrisy. Until then, it's based on a weirdly edited video
Do you understand tone and inflection at all?

I don't know what the rest of that clip says, but his statement there is fairly straightforward. He didn't use the word 'deserve', but that is absolutely what he was implying.

Look at the record of a team the following week if they have to play in overtime.

Now require that it goes an entire extra period.

This is one of the few sound argument against changing the rules.

Guarantee none of this is even an issue if the Chiefs opposing QB in OT in this instance were like a Baker Mayfield, Tannehill, Drew Lock. Then it would be "well, they should've stopped Mahomes in OT"

it's only an issue because fans want to see some sort of Shoot out in an extra period between 2 stud QBs; against a phase of an opposing team who is likely cashed/exhausted anyway.

OT rules are fine the way they are. Even with what Brandt proposes by adding an entire period.....you'll still have blowback when a team like the Titans wins the toss, and goes on an 8+ minute drive; then people will bitch that the opposing team didn't have much of a chance. OR, they'll say "well, they should've played better defense if they wanted the ball with more time on the clock".

....which is the exact same reason why the OT rules are fine as they are. Bills only had to force a FG to get the ball back and they didn't get it done.

It's just the media doing media things. Creating an 'issue' or topic to discuss ad nauseam
for days upon days on all their debate shows.

I think we should change the rules to a 100-yard dash with one designated player per team, and I will advocate for that as long as we have Tyreek Hill on the roster.

Sorry, that was supposed to be the lower seed. Basically, the team hosting the game. He was equating it to boxing/MMA. If a match for the belt ends in a draw, does the champ lose the belt? No. You have to beat the champ. The draw doesn't give you the belt and a draw should not let you move on if you're the higher seeded team.

It’s absurd. The OT rules are fine, and I wasn’t somebody complaining back in 2018 either.

The rules are the way they are because of injuries. The longer the game, the more the likelihood of serious injuries.
Keep going until either:

A. One team doesn’t answer with a TD and can be eliminated bc the opposing team gets a TD.

B. Time runs out

The players playing longer doesn’t matter. It’s OT. Win the game. It’s not like the NFL isn’t adding more games to the regular season anyway. At this rate we’ll have 20 regular season games by 2030.

Here's another solution to shut up whiners about the rule. You lost the coin toss? Don't trust your defense?

Then do an onside kick.

Seriously. What does it matter at that point if your defense is going to get gashed like a hot knife through butter? Play to hold them to a field goal. The yards and length of the field the offense has to drive doesn't matter at that point if you're going to whine about people telling you to play better defense.

I don't think we've seen a single team ever use this strategy since these became the new OT rules. If your defense is trash, then do a fake kickoff, try to catch them off guard, and try to grab the W yourself.

Good luck getting a defensive stop in that scenario. Neither one of those defenses was going to get a stop in that game.
