Veach has to really hit on the next draft, if we're going to continue this run. Money wise, it gets very expensive to keep all your vets. You have to re-load. He has been able to do that at OL and LB, but now we need to retool our DL, receiving corps

What happens when the full value of Mahomes contract comes due? I'm hoping the Chiefs don't turn into the Seahawks...

Injuries will kill a few seasons for us. Happens to every team.

We’ll miss on some draft picks. We’ll sign some bad contracts. Just like every other team.

Nothing is guaranteed and it really sucks to be up 18 at home and shit the bed like this.

I’m sure Mahomes will get 1 or 2 more. Maybe more than that. Just really sucks to not get there given such a golden opportunity.

With Burrow, Herbert, and Josh Allen the road is significantly tougher now than it was 2 years ago when Mahomes was hands-down top dog in the AFC. Our prime window is closed in 2-3 years is my guess, so Veach needs to work some magic. Solid drafting is going to be crucial if we’re going to keep up in the AFC.

Yes, it's a scary thought. It gets harder from here. It will get harder for the Bills soon too.

Hopefully Patrick realizes you can't have a max contract AND surround yourself with Super Bowl caliber talent.

I hope the State Farm money is enough for Patrick to give us very favorable re-worked contracts from here out.

Yeah no show he was never in the QBs face today he totally got paid and never produced since then. Maybe he's distracted by Britt Reids trial

Who knows? Probably can't look at this season as one of our best chances until the waning part of Pat's career. We don't know how the next 12-15 years will play out. But it certainly would've been nice to get one this year, of course.

But, them's the breaks in the NFL. Part of what makes it so great is the one and doneness of the post season. One bad half, and boom, you're out. Has worked in our favor in the past, went against us this time. We'll see what the future holds.

Should be OK next year once they free up even more salary space by not bring back some lower performing guys. A lot of guys will want to play in KC. I'm not sure they need another WR with Pringle (they should resign him) and Hardman effective around. I'm all for going very heavy on defense in the first four rounds (one each and with two (and potentially another in round three as compensatory picks for Poles and maybe EB leaving as well).

I hope so; I think Patrick has covered up a lot of warts on this team and eventually, those will start to show. Drafting at the end of each round, trading picks and missing on some of them for the past decade is going to start having a cumulative effect. Team needs a big infusion of young, talented players. Kelce and Hill were largely healthy this year, not going to be the case every year.

Offense plays like complete shit, doesn't adjust at all to what the Bengals were doing on d in the second half Andy Reid farts what ended up being a key timeout away, costs the team a field goal before halftime defense at least gets the ball back a few times and again the offense completely and repeatedly shits all over itself.

Let's fix the defense!

Typical Chiefs planet...

The Chiefs were 2nd in the league in offensive DVOA and 26th in the league in defensive DVOA in the regular season and playoffs. Despite a bad half offensively and a down year by the standard of the Mahomes' era, it's pretty clear where the major issues still lie with this team.

Exactly. Moss and metcaf(however you spell it) could have been out there with the rest of our guys and we still woulda lost. The L is on the offense, but the D gets no credit from me. Titans get 9 sacks and Jones let’s him slip right through his fingertips. It’s humiliating to see Ingram, the lower paid guy and newcomer do better than 100 million dollar Frank and Jones.

Positive is that these teams should find it harder to load up on talent drafting.

It's definitely demoralising to think what a wasted opportunity this is. Injury free with 3 HOFs on offence, at home against a very average Bungles team. On the other hand I think we've papered over some cracks this year and there is definitely room to strengthen this roster. That's what's keeping me positive. The team can get worse with an ageing Kelce and injuries, but it also absolutely can get better. Especially on D
