Tyrann Mathieu reiterates he wants to stay in Kansas City at NFL Honors

Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu — a nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award — joined NFL Network on the red carpet ahead of the NFL Honors in Los Angeles. Mathieu is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after three seasons in Kansas City.

“Obviously, the hope and the dream is to continue to be a Kansas City Chief,” said Mathieu. “We created so much history the last couple of years... I want to be in Kansas City, and I think everybody knows that.”

There is a twitter video but I am unable to post it here for some reason Follow link below.

Why bother to bench him? He's not out there making plays, so sitting on the bench as a backup means that you have a useless backup. I'd cut him. Might be that even save some money off the cap by cutting him too.

Oh, and that play against the Browns, I DEFINITELY recognize that one because it's the same play he made on the long gainer to Chase on a short slant where Mathieu made sure to just run alongside him for 20 yards after moving himself in a position to be 'shielded' by a blocker who wasn't even looking at him.

Tyrann Mathieu can eat a whole bag o' dicks.

We haven't had a guy who was even capable of standing up Jacobs like Reid did a couple weeks back since early Berry.

Yeah, of course. Just not seeing much of a play maker, breaking up passes (other than the great one this last week), etc. Just was hoping for a bit more out of him was all, not really disappointed, just meh.

The 18 second mark since NFL won't let me embed.

And he even threw the ol' 'arms up' motion in there for good measure.

People that wanna act like he's 'fallen off' just weren't paying attention last year. He's been doing this since about week 4 of the season. He's just awful at this point.

The Chase (no pun intended) play is really weird because it looks like Mathieu could've drug him down without much contact.
In the Saints/Bengals game I mean. Not the Chiefs/Bengals

Crazy how these guys can fall off a cliff at seemingly any point. Russell Wilson, Tyrann Matheiu, Frank Clark.

I imagine part of it is the grind and doing it for so long. Probably getting life changing money.

These guys are human too. It’s just so hard to gage. Especially guys like Russell Wilson

Look at the play at about the 2:24 mark on the sideline - same thing. He's right there at the catch point but doesn't try to accelerate to break up the play. He gets there and just watches Ward (another little arm motion) and then jogs alongside Chase until he just takes himself out of bounds.

Or the screen at the 1:50 mark when Thornhill is getting downhill despite being single high and Mathieu just...never makes it onto the screen at all.

He was a complete bitch his final season here.

Like I said - none of this is new. This is who Mathieu's been for a bit now.

Very much this. His play last season was pretty pitiful. Really glad we moved on.

Oh I agree, I'm just saying the Chase play in the Saints game was absolutely inexcusable. They all are, but that one is by far the worst.

It was the game-winning score, too. Almost any player, even a complete scrub, would lay his body out to try to prevent losing the game and Matthieu just...didn't...

Seriously. He wouldn't have needed to put his body in any danger, and like you said IT WAS THE GAME WINNING TD.
