I don’t see much talk about Pacheatcode becoming the new #1

Everybody was pounding the table for Clyde—their favorite player to hate—to be demoted. And what do you know. The very next week, Andy gave you your wish. Yet nobody cares?

Let the reign of Pacheatcode begin.

Pacheco is ahead of schedule. I said he very well could be challenging for the top role before the year started and some called it crazy.

He's a better player than CEH. He does have issues with trusting what's in front of him but he'll get better at that as we have studs across the interior.

More a product of his speed and just an apparent need to hit something.

I'm not going to call someone powerful that gets less yards after contact than CEH. But maybe he needs more rhythm.

CEH appears to be afraid of big holes.

I've never seen a guy pass up 5 yards of open space to run into a group of 6-7 guys all tangled up for 1-2 yards.

McKinnon and Pacheco make cuts.

I never followed CEH in college. Was he just a straight ahead runner at LSU or was he know for making tons of cuts?

The numbers dont tell the whole story here.

Clydes TD run, he was untouched. Literally any RB could have had the same result. If that play had went to Pacheco or McKinnon, Clydes numbers would be more representative of his playing ability.

2nd and 1, give the ball to Clyde = 3rd and 1. Its a wasted down. Clyde generally gains 0-2 yards. It is so frustrating. He NEVER makes a big play out of a huge hole and NEVER makes a big play on his own. He is the definition of JAG.

I know, look at his YPC you say. You cant take away his best run and then use those numbers.

Hear me out, ANY RB could run for a 16 yard TD when they arent touched. Also the YPC are more attributed to the O line opening holes that should turn into long runs but Clyde generally gets 5 yards or so making his YPC look decent.

I dont know if Pacheco is the answer but watching the two it certainly looks like Pacheco is the better runner. Much harder to bring down, rarely gains zero yards even when hit in the backfield. Much faster than Clyde, quicker than Clyde and feels like he will break off a big one if given more chances.

Naming Pacheco the starter is NOT the same as making him the starter. Until he gets a game as the starter, I mean 15-20 carries, we will be having this same conversation.

And that is something he needs to learn to control. He would be better if he spent less energy trying to be the most physical player on the field.

Yeah, obviously KC has a lot more solid first drives than most. I should have said in general.

I like Pacheco's style of running and the toughness he brings to a mostly finesse offense. HCE has his good points as well and McKinnon maybe the change of pace (and receiving guy). I personally think Pacheco should get equal or more touches than all of them.

What concersns me the most is that when the running game (and usage of their backs is VERY effective in games), Andy still shies away from pounding it. He has such ability to diversify the offense, he always reverts back to Mahomes and the passing game. And while, there is totally nothing wrong with that (and we know how effective Mahomes is at it), it would take even more pressure off the passing game, especially in games where they go through some struggles or the opposing team is confusing Mahomes (which happens at times) if Andy would incorporate the back even more, IMO. He's a master at devising plays and there is no reason, he can't pound the ball more often it's apparent defenses can't stop them, using more swing passes and wheel routes with the backs or even more screen passes to them.

I'm not complaining about the offense but I do think that a more effective use of the running game (and their catching abilities) makes them that much better. Which doesn't even get into how controlling the game with longer, drives that wear down the other team also keeps their defense off the field even longer.

Like on that goal line run a couple weeks ago where he was stopped like 2 yards short and bent in half backwards and still managed to stay up and push to the plane for the TD.
Just as many? Yeah, I don't think so.

Sure, when running straight ahead into a pile, he might push the pile for an extra yard now and then. Otherwise, you can take him down by breathing on him.

You can watch the play on youtube here. https://youtu.be/e6NuDVDlxhc?t=168

It starts at 2:52. He's done things like this the entire time he's been here. He needs to ride the pine.

1) Because he's small and sending him up the middle into a bunch of lineman is probably a surefire way to get him injured at some point during the season, 2) He gets the least amount of extra yards after contact, and 3) He isn't just used on 3rd down.
