More players talking about changing from turf to grass

We saw De’Vondre Campbell speak out on this. Now there are more popular players speaking out. Including Travis Kelce.

It is asinine at this point that teams have turf. More highschools are switching to it.

I've played on it many times. To me it's way too soft and squishy. It's long plastic grass blades with a few inches of loose rubber dirt sprinkled on top and worked into the grass. It feels like running on sand and it just sucks your speed. It's super soft to fall on. I don't see how they are citing more injuries on the stuff. Maybe it's too soft and they are losing footing?

I am sure it is not fun to be tackled on it, but there is a lot of soft stuff under it.
HS's cannot afford to resod after a terrible rainy game. Turf works well here.

It is no longer 1981.

VARSITY
I'd think turf is better than these grass fields that have garbage for grounds keepers.

Kind of a strange movement considering how many teams have indoor practice facilities.

The newer artificial surfaces are safer than the Arizona grass field was for Butker and McDuffie during week 1.

Probably. For a high school or small college turf is probably the way to go but it takes a ton of maintenance and you have to do it right if you go grass.
