Is Chiefsplanet seriously going to outlive Twitter?

This might be destined for DC, but for some reason this will feel like a major achievement on this website if that happens.

Forums like this have taken a huge hit with social media. Out of the Tech, Life, Music, Baseball and Nintendo forums I was a part of in high school, it's amazing that this is the place that not only survived, but it still thriving (while outliving and far suprassing the Chargers, Raiders, and Bronco forum equivalents).

Cheers.

Seriously, how many people do you really need to run Twitter? If I bought it and it had 5000 employees, I'd fire 4500 of them. If a bunch quit during that process.....even better.
Well, here's the thing. If Twitter can manage just fine without that many people, it's probably because of the extreme work from all of the admins and engineers at Twitter.

That's some serious talent walking out the door.

Elon will make Twitter profitable. All the liberal nutall celebs that claim to leave haven't left and will pay the 8 bucks for their shitty blue check mark. None of them are abandoning Twitter. They are addicted.

I've been on Twitter for a long time. I have zero problems with it. That being said, I only follow sports figures, teams and sports media that I feel add value. No political BS at all. Works great for me.

Oh. I also follow Elon Musk. He's quite interesting and has a self-deprecating sense of humor.

Today he posted, "Do you know how to make a small fortune in social media? Start with a large one!"

They're going to hire a whole new workforce here soon. He's just asking the remaining people (all of whom are likely top performers) to work extra until that happens. I've been in tech for 30+ years and see this all the time with M&A activities.

Even getting past the whole free speech aspect he demonstrated he was a total moron by completely destroying the verification system and in the process likely opening the site to lawsuits, breaking laws that came out of previous lawsuits, and just making the entire thing even more of a joke that advertisers were never going to want any part of, to say nothing of the likelihood that him immediately killing the same program likely led to many, many people rushing to get their money back after not being given their full month which would cost the associated banks a f***ton and likely make them not want to work with him again either.

On every level it's been a total disaster.

There's one thing Musk should have learned early on – platforms built on unlimited "free speech" either die a quick death or linger in the purgatory of fringe websites burning a hole in their backers' pockets. Advertisers and investors want nothing to do with such sites, and the trolls quickly chase away any legitimate users.

Of course, it was never about free speech for Musk. The guy just wanted to shut down everybody who was making fun of him, so seeing it completely blow up in his face and make him the biggest laughing stock in the western world is extremely gratifying.
