Mecole Hardman

It seems like the offense has been a lot less dynamic without Hardman. He might be the spark needed going into the playoffs.

I know the accepted narrative here is one that treats Hardman as some sort of JAG. But I really like his freakish athleticism, his playmaking ability, and his unselfishness. He’s still really young and has acted like a kid at times, but I’ve got this nagging feeling that if the light ever comes on he’s gonna be special.

He’s made some really great plays and I love the way he runs in traffic. He doesn’t shift gears. It’s like he’s in variable glide mode.

You can’t tell me those moves don’t make a huge upgrade to our WR room. But we can’t have pure slot WRs or WR2s lining up against CB1s. Get a WR1 and you have way more luxury to fill in the rest with warm bodies. I love juju but he isn’t WR1. Sadly. Despite what the market looks like the WR market is going to get way more crowded than you think. Several QBs getting huge contracts, several getting the wrecking ball this year.

That is simply insane to have the best qb in the world and demanding he carry a bunch of warm body WRs. And yeah, Reid has not been particularly great at drafting high on WR1s. For every desean and tyreek you have a million FredExes and mecoles.

I’m talking 1 WR. You’re talking about two trenches with 9 players.
If you're clamoring for paying Tyler Boyd and Chris Godwin and Corey Davis but not JJSS......I don't know what to tell you.

When you pay some of those guys big money, the WR gets even more JAG'y.

Ok, take Clark and OBJ away.

Now you have to get a LT and a weakside DE. Those guys are usually cheap to find.

OBJ sucks at pass pro. You can draft or sign a shitty LT to suck almost as bad as OBJ does and save a ton of money. We can get a Melvin Ingram or Dunlap or Suggs type to fill a void. Those type guys dont cost very much. WR #1 is a must.

Id try to pay a #1 WR for certainty , draft a LT and trade up for an edge.

All the teams paying big money for WR's have cheap QB's yet the teams with expensive QB's keep trading them or letting them walk and going to the draft where there are 12 WR's coming out in the first 2 rounds every year.

Weird.

The Chiefs are going to just "go grab a mediocre LT" to put there during Mahomes prime.

Yeah, I can see that happening.

They should. A LT is less valuable to Mahomes than almost any other QB in the league. Especially a non-athletic one like OBJ. Mahomes is a guy who likes to drift out of the pocket and can avoid the rush very well. It's honestly pretty hard on a LT.

I get the idea is to "protect" him. If you really wanted to protect Mahomes you would throw half as much and run a heavy run based system. Im certainly not advocating that but that is how you would do it.

Using the resources we are better off paying an Edge rusher or Chris Jones, then a WR#1 and then LT. You should be able to get a reasonable pass protecting first LT in first couple rounds that the rest of the league doesn't value as much as a passing team like the Chiefs.

Your take sucks. You don't risk injury to the only guy on your roster that you can't afford to lose to allocate resources elsewhere. What you do with those resources is irrelevant if 15 is not in the game.

They've literally talked about how they and Pat specifically doesn't want to drift and move.

With Mahomes avoiding the "rush" and such, we shouldnt' be paying THuney or any of the other OL.

You should tell Andy Reid we pass 20 times a game too much then because thats way way more dangerous than a mediocre LT vs another mediocre to slightly avg LT. You are talking about a negligible difference.

your rebuttal is that the chiefs should take the ball out of your best playmakers hands for half of the snaps in a game?

Its a comparison to show how silly this idea is that not having a 150M LT is somehow going to maim Patrick Mahomes.
