I have never used Doordash or any of that type service except pizza delivery but often I just go pick it up from carryout. I guess if I was made of money who knows still I probably would eat more in nice sit down upper scale restaurants.

I will never trust people to not take my french fries so I’ll never have anything besides pizza delivered. Plus pizza feeds more people. If I’m entertaining I can have pizzas arrive for 15 people no problem. No chance I’m ordering or having delivered 15 meals from Joe’s.

I did it for a week and no it's not worth it, you don't get an hourly wage and typically end up making just over minimum wage destroying your car. It can be ok if you just want to do it a few hours a week and get out of the house, other than that nah it's not a good way to make a living.

If they're going to pop you for SE tax, keep track of everything. I'd use IRS mileage because there is no way to split out a bunch of the vehicle expense. Gas is easy enough, but tires, maintenance, depreciation, whatever, is about impossible to split. Take the IRS milage rate and deduct all that shit. If you have a home office, get the square footage and deduct that. If you are currently filing your own taxes, deduct the extra tax prep. Anything you can, deduct that shit. SE taxes are a bad, bad surprise. It's 15.3% of net, which is essentially the employer and employee side of Social Security and Medicare taxes. It hurts. |

Anyone here ever deliver for Door-Dash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, etc?
Regarding your income and taxes. Two options are okay depending on your personality. If you can track and manage and responsible paying estimate quarterly taxes is a good way to go. Pretty simple to do online. The other option if you don’t want to mess with that is open a separate account for the income from this job. That way you can better ensure you know what you are actually making and you can also make sure you leave money in it for taxes at the end of the year. If you project to make 5K in a year just leave 1k or so in there and never touch it so you can use it for taxes. And definitely get a mileage tracker app. Free version could be sufficient defending in your needs and use.

I can get on board with this. Just don't get the attraction to five idiots cooking bland burgers.

We had a delivery driver pick up our food and literally drive off the wrong direction. They never once came towards us, we had customer service on the line and they said to call the number on the order. We called the number a lady picked up and said that she doesn't do door dash. Like those numbers are linked to the door dash order. We got our cost refunded and a 50$ credit.

What is truly sad is that we have a generation of kids that watch their parents live paycheck to paycheck and use services like door dash instead of cooking an inexpensive meal. It is bad enough that people are so lazy that dog food is delivered by UPS. This country is sinking fast. This civilization is on the economic Titanic and the majority are going to drown.
