Not sure whether you all go under for the procedure with anesthesia, but it's something to think about. You can do it without going under, but it is supposedly a bit painful...like getting a cramp. Why this is an issue? there is evidence that anesthesia can contribute to dementia later in life. Anecdotally, my mother had multiple cancer related surgeries and in her early 80's slipped into a state where she couldn't recognize anyone around her.

What evidence?
I have family history of Alzheimer's on my mom's side. So, that does concern me some. I think genetics is probably the biggest factor.
