It is Red Wednesday for the home opener. The proceeds from car flag sales from Red Fridays and Red Wednesdays goes to Ronald McDonald House.

https://www.chiefs.com/red-wednesday/

As a PR stunt it came off beautifully. Everyone watching local news in Kansas City will see a reasonable statement from Chris Jones.

A lot of Chiefs fans that do not post on message boards are not that anal about a famous player getting paid.

The most important player in the game took less to remain with the team in the interest of building a winner. Another HOF player did the same. The Chiefs gave CJ of all people a top-of-the-market second contract likely beyond what Sneed, McDuffie, and Bolton would be looking for on a comparable basis.

But most importantly, it’s a top-shelf organization and if we offer those players comparable top-shelf money, they stay. If we don’t, they leave. Same as anything else.
Well, Chiefs move should be to get a deal done with Chris Jones.

It would be penny wise and pound foolish to not go to Veach-Tillis Plan B.

Veach should slap Jones and his agent across the face and tell them to take a hard look at the LA Rams right now and their glorious Aaron Donald contract.

Sure, but is that the fair market value of a DT or a DE? Others have already listed several DEs that would rank higher than Jones if he is being compared to that position for contract value. I certainly understand if CJ and his agents wish to make their argument based on over all value as opposed to positional value, but that isn’t the winning argument for them they would hope it is, at least not in the eyes of the majority of franchises that hand out these contracts.

Yeah this shit is even more irritating that Chris Jones. People in here acting like he's not one of the best pass rushers in the entire league and he's doing it from a much more important spot, while taking on over double the amount of double teams than those edge rushers. He's getting legit double teams from center and guards, while edge rushers will get clipped by a shitty TE or RB and that's considered a double team. He's also getting just as much pressure as those guys.

Interior pressure is way more valuable than edge pressure. You can tell that by what it does to our very own Patrick Mahomes. It's almost his kryptonite, almost. Pressure on the inside keeps the QB from stepping up into the pocket and gets the QB on the move. Lots of QBs aren't good throwing on the move. What Chris Jones does is more vital than what the greatest edge rushers do and he's able to get to the QB at the same clip as those guys while having to beat 2 legit blockers.

****ing tards on here dissing his play can get wrecked by his foot long dong. ****ing idiots.

As usual you miss the point.

Players don’t participate in public events like this the day before a game.

Red Wednesday, Ash Wednesday… it doesn’t matter the occasion.

And everyone saw Chris Jones talk about “asking for a raise” at a supposed charity event with his amateur agents looking on in approval.

Well, Chiefs beat writers were the ones asking questions, so good job at logistics as well as messaging.

Call the cops, it all seems legal and kosher to me.

Honestly the show that he and his agent put on make me think this is likely to wrap up soon. I don’t think Chris wants to lose $1M a week to make a point.

Why would you want Trent McDuffie, Nick Bolton and other players on rookie contracts to think they will have to leave KC to get a market rate second contract?
Gee, maybe a team that is a recurring Super Bowl contender has so much talent that it can't actually pay every player on the roster a market rate+ second and third contract and still be under the cap...

Nah, that can't be it.

I'm sure it's just that Clark is being tight fisted with his money...

It was whatever you want to see.

He articulated his position poorly but in fairness to him when millionaires and billionaires are at a stalemate it’s challenging for either to come off as sympathetic.

Jones wants to be here and get paid like he’s someplace w/o Mahomes contract on the books. I think he needs to realize he can have one or the other and make a choice (report or ask for a trade). He also should have done it six months ago should the choice be the latter.

The whole thing revolves around the cap obviously. There aren’t any bad guys here. IMO Jones has overplayed his hand and can only hurt himself by continuing to hold out.
