He's either being advised to, or genuinely believes the Chiefs defense is nothing without him, and that we'll lose multiple games because he's not playing. At this point, thats his only logical leverage. He also surely believes that he's worth Aaron Donald money because of his performance last year and won't take anything lower.

Mathematically he's going to lose a lot more money than he hopes to gain, but we're well past the point of logic here.

He absolutely doesn’t want to be traded at the deadline. That’s worst case scenario for him. He doesn’t accrue half a season’s worth of compensation and then is traded? His decline will start the moment he signs a new contract. We've seen it happen with him before, and it isn't age related.

Sure. You can guess however many games he wants to hold out. Or like DJ did in another thread, percentages of his decline. In his 3rd year do you think he'll be 50% or worse of his normal self? 80%?
