What always got me was how if they had a UDFA turn into a solid player people acted like that made up for bad picks...no it doesn't, this is why your depth sucks.

Martin Mayhew decided overpaying for Carson Wentz was a good idea and now they're rolling with Howell, who sucks.

Ryan Poles and Scott Fitterer are absolutely getting fired over that trade bc CJ Stroud looks like he's gonna be a rock solid QB at worst. And they both had the assets to get him. Like staylor said, the QB means everything, but Bill didn't have the 1st overall pick bc his teams are never that bad.
I also have a Bryce Young thread in the draft forum about how ridiculous it was for Fitterer to draft a QB that is 5'10 180 lbs. did I mention that Bryce Young is already hurt?

Do I even need to continue with guys like Chris Ballard who was such a pussy about drafting a QB until his owner forced him to?

And we sure as hell know Andrew Berry is getting fired for that outrageous Watson deal. It's so bad that they are looking at a way to void gauranteed money.

You could easily throw in Joe Douglas whose team has only looked even average bc he has layup top draft picks like Quinnen Williams and Garrett Wilson.
Oh wait...what about Zach Wilson?

Bill is very overrated, but he's not a bottom 5 GM

Right. That HC-QB of this caliber is going to do a LOT of heavy lifting.

Because of BB the HC. Of course you don't even need Reid. As great as Reid is, a defensive wizard like BB would be the ultimate pairing with Pat.

That's why BB is a bit overrated. Him and Brady are different from Reid and Mahomes because BB is a ****ing defensive wizard, and he knows offensive football well enough to always have an adequate OC (as long as he had a great QB like Brady).

Andy and Pat have nothing to do with the defense.

That's why getting Spags and him and Veach having that same synergy that Veach and Andy have has been so important.

If we had BB running the defense, we wouldn't have to put so many resources into it. I love Spags, but he's not BB. Nobody is. That guy can have a good defense every single year.

Again, it's impossible to have this argument because you can't se the difference between Belichick the HC and the GM. You think it's all the same, when it's not.
So you agree that putting JUST Mahomes there would make them contenders? That’s with BelichickGM, a HOF coach in BelichickHC, and all of these garbage drafts you keep talking about?

How can you think that but not think that we might have enjoyed similar success if we simply brought BelichickGM here where he would still have Mahomes, a HOF HC in Reid, Kelce, Tyreek Hill, Chris Jones, Eric Fisher, Mitchell Schwartz, Kareem Hunt, Dee Ford, Justin Houston, etc.

A team ****ing up a pick is not the same as going 15 years without a good draft.

I'd also argue that if Chicago does tank into 2 top 3 picks, which they could, this will all be forgotten.

No one will care about this if they can hire a competent HC for Caleb Williams and Harrison JR and then flip Fields to like Atlanta.

Those guys have all drafted pretty well and have some good moves along with it.

Bill should have been fired a while ago.

Why is dude talking about Josh McDaniels anyway? Lol. He’s like one of the worst head coaches of all time. Any team left in his hands would instantly crumble.

Berry has built a legitimate top 3 defense and has a good OL around Watson.

Watson just sucks.

He's honestly probably not far off from being fired. He's at the same point Reid was at during the final years in Philly, making arrogantly stupid moves out of spite and hubris just to prove they knew best.

I'd rather go 15 years with average drafts acknowledging my team hasn't been bad enough to draft a top end QB than having the #1 pick and watching us trade it to someone else while the Texans look like they have an actual future while we have Justin ****ing Fields.

This is about current GM's and Ryan Poles better pack his bags bc his goddamned ass is getting fired. There's zero chance he survives this shit.

The worst thing you can do as a GM is give away your future to a non-performing QB by trading valuable draft picks and paying them a huge contract. Bill may not be good but he's not that ****ing stupid.

And yes I'd rather have Bill than Ballard. Say what you want but at least Bill had the balls to draft a 1st rd QB before his owner and the fans pressured him to do it.

Those aren't average drafts....they are well below average.

A contender? Sure. A dynasty? Absolutely not with Belichick the GM.

Don't just ignore my point about the dynamic of Belichick being a defensive wizard combined with a great QB. That is a huge factor, and has absolutely nothing to do with Belichick the GM.

Again, the discussion is about whether we would have the same amount of success that we've had over the last 5 years, and how we would be set up for success for the next 5.

With Belichick's shit draft versus Veach's great drafts, the difference would be significant, and anybody arguing different is ****ing reeruned.
