Watch out for motorcycles on the road please

Twice within a 3 mile stretch on my way home I had some blue hair pull out in front of me. Apparently a horn does me no good either... need to stop by the hardware store and pick up some ball bearings for when the horn isn't enough.

I agree that we all need watch out for each other, especially motorcycles, but the sport bike riders have got to calm their shit down. I get it, I was one for many years, rode a 600R Ninja in Germany and just a couple of years ago sold my hopped up ZX-9. So I have been involved in what we'll just call more than my fair share of motorized hooliganism, but we took our shenanigans out away from traffic where we weren't risking anyone else's safety but our own and we could play for longer periods of time before getting hassled by "the man". I also get filtering to the front of the line at a traffic light, but these assholes today are lane splitting in highway traffic doing +40 MPH faster than the flow of traffic and that's suicidal.
The attached picture below is not a setup, it isn't photo shopped or AI, it happened several years ago outside of Tulsa on 169 Highway. When I posted it on Facebook as a warning to younger riders it got me thrown in the Facebook Pokey because it's literally a dead person, which is why I spoiler tagged it here, just so you've been warned before you click on it.
The back story is that this guy was out on 169 "stunting" and smacked the back of a semi in excess of 100 MPH. The trucker didn't feel anything, all he knows is that he heard a crash and a rider-less sport bike shot passed him so he slowed down and pulled over to find what is pictured below.
Just to add some irony to the story, this young man in his 20's a couple of weeks prior had attended the funeral for one of his buddies who died doing the exact same thing. Two young men dead for momentary thrills.

Spoiler!

If you're wondering why the guy has no shoes it's because the body got dragged for a couple miles before the trucker could slow down and find a spot to safely pull over.

4. Why would you not look for a vehicle which by state law has every right to be on the road?
While I won't go as far as to say I won't watch out for people to his point:

1. Because you're riding around on a vehicle that is inherently more dangerous than a car for what advantage? Thrill? Fuel efficiency? I'm really struggling to find a valid reason for it to be worth the extra risk involved in driving it

2. You're intentionally driving something that is more dangerous with very little benefit & is considerably harder to see & expecting everyone else to "watch out" for you.

3. I don't know if it's stupid but it's definitely not very safe & provides very little benefit over a car which would be much safer.

4. Yeah that's a bridge too far. I have more value for human life & don't want to live with the fact that I killed someone due to carelessness. However that's also a responsibility motorcycle riders put on other drivers, I have to be more careful when you're around because a slight mistake goes from being a fender bender to a possible life & death situation all due to your decision to drive a relatively unsafe vehicle.

And I also think it's valid to question if they should have every right to be on the road. But as long as they're there I'm going to look out for them. But the implication that I need to be hyper vigilant because you haven't made the best decisions on your choice of vehicle to drive is something that just rubs me the wrong way.

Funny motorcycle story - a couple of days ago I saw some guy riding a chopper that was way too big for him. Dude looked like he was about five foot nothing - with his hands on the grips his arms were so far up in the air he looked like Daniel Larusso doing the crane.
You're just plain vulnerable on a motorcycle. My neighbor is (was) the safest rider I know. Wore all the safety gear. Even ride the less traveled paths to avoid motorists. And then one day a deer jumped in front of his bike and made him a quadriplegic.

You don't drive a motorcycle.

People speed ALL. THE. TIME. 85/90 in a 70/75 etc. Cockblocking lanes, tailgating. Riding even w/ other cars. ON THEIR PHONE..

I see it every day. the average drive is not going to be able to recover after losing control at those speeds. I've seen SEMI's tailgate. People use their turn signal on 10ft from the turn as opposed to a hundred feet.

Let's not pretend that drivers are somehow safer.

That said, I've always been reluctant towards the sport bikes designed for the track on the road. They do other bikers no favors with their antics.

The ironic thing is, bikes were on the road first. They share the road w cars.

I just don’t like the riders who cut thru between lanes in busy stop and go traffic. Scares the hell out of me. Extremely dangerous too. Regular drivers can’t always see you.

I am always cognizant of any vehicle that I share the road with....courtesy and sharing the road is just sensible.

But I will say the one thing that irritates me are the motorcycles that weave in and out of lanes speeding at80 MPH ....or those who see the center line as their lane.

Courtesy is a 2 way street...

Look twice for motorcycles. If you only look once you might miss the stupid crap they are about to do.

Yep. My cousin and his wife hit one. They were helmeted and not even going very fast, but it didn't matter. He survived with minor injuries, but she was killed instantly.

I am not even going there. I killed a motorcyclist once but because he was driving like crap and had a Non-Dot helmet on. Took over 3 years to solve.
