Wesley vs Page

Why is greg wesley still playing?

all page does is make plays, while wesley doesn't do a damn thing except push people out of bounds.

why don't we play the young guys?

pollard has made enough plays to warrant some time too, since the season is over.

It sounds to me like one of two things.

Either they are giving up on Pollard as a safety because of his lack of cover skills, or they happy with Wesley and are giving up on Bell and hope to get Pollard and his head hunter mentality onto the field.

Either way, I think it's a mistake.

Pollard was like a 4.53 40 or something @ the combine, is that slow for his position? Page was 4.63, funny how Page was all gonna be a project, and he now probably leads the team in int's and pollard is still all rough. I hope they both play next year, and I don't care where they put pollard. If pollard puts on 20 in the weight room in the offseason, look out Jay Cutler, you are gonna go down like Thiesmann. Bonecrusher was the pick I think I was most excited about. Herm needs to get his ass on the field.

Between Page/Pollard and the Kerry Rhodes/Erik Coleman safety tandem in NY, it's pretty safe to say Herm knows what he's doing in evaluating safeties. I'm pretty sure Pollard is the only guy of that group that wasn't a 2nd day pick actually.

Okay this will be fun, I call it the mock pollard page projected 2007 chiefs starting defense. say that five times in a row fast. ythe possibilites are limitless when you consider moving law to safety.

DE Allen, Hali.
DT Reed, FA or Draft Pick.
LB Johnson, Mitchell, Bell, Pollard. (if we play the 3-4 at all Bell plays the ILB) Pollard starts year as backup to bell than takes over @ some point as olb if we don't.
Cb Surtain, Law, FA, Pick, or Sapp
S Wesley, Page.

Granted he's been on IR this year because of an Achilles injury but if he can come back I'd love to have him brought in. And for those of you who miss this post, I'll be pimping him harder than Mecca pimps USC players in the coming months.

If you wanna be honest.......Page and Pollard are both SS's in a cover 2, I don't think either is fast enough for the FS spot.

Hopefully Pollard isn't a bust like most of the Chiefs 2nd rounders but talking about moving him already is a bad sign......

I am certainly open to expermenting him playing somewhere. Whether it'd be linebacker or safety? The kids got some fire, and he can lay some wood. We dont have a player like that on defense. If he can supply whats missing from our defense, I would not hesitate giving the kid an opportunity to prove himself. Not saying he has to start, but, would like to see him get involved and force some competition for jobs.
You never know what can happen from there?

*He made some plays for us this year, which is a positive.

We may have ended up using a 2nd round pick on a guy who's nothing more than a special teams player.....

He is worth hanging on to if for nothing else cause he is our best special teams player by far. He has most stops when we're kicking and 2 blocked punts this year. With our Special teams as it is I'd keep him and try to fit him into our D but dont rush him in there.

I haven't watched Tennesee.
One guy that intrigues me though, from what I've heard about him is Justin Harrel.

Onr of the things that makes him intriging is the fact that he suffered a season ending injury that he apparently wanted to try to play through.
That shows some serious desire.

The question is, is he any good?

Page sure looks like he has the range to play FS he's been all over the field. Speaking of Pollard have you noticed who is always the first guy down on punts. Being in the right position and taking proper angles is more important for safety than world burner speed, Sammy knight is our best coverage safety and I wouldn't be surprised if hes not slower than all of our LB's.

Just because a guy is a good special teams player and is always first down the field doesn't mean he can play defense........remember Bennie Thompson?
