Have you ever looked at LT's stats?

27 years old with 100TD's and after this season he'll have over 10,000 yards. He's way under 30. He will break yards and td records for all RB's. Good bye Emmit.

Damn he's a bad ass.

I guess I never really hated San Diego. Now that Marty's gone, they don't even register on the radar anymore with me.

Barring major injury, he'll shatter almost all the Rushing records.

LT is at a Ken Griffey Junior-esque phase of his career. If he keeps it up, yes he'll break all the records, but who's to say he won't suffer a bad injury (he hasn't yet), or a drop in productivity (he has had a heavy workload his entire career).

It's a definite possibility, but by no means a given.

Tomlinson through 6 seasons:

Among the league's all-time top 50
Rushes:26Rushing yards:24Rushing TDs:6tYards from scrimmage:38Rush/Receive TDs:11t

Never once under 1200 yds rushing. Over 2,000 total yards in 3 of the 6 seasons. Over 1600 yds rushing in 3 of the 6 seasons. Never under 10 TDs in a season. Never less than 51 receptions in a season.

LT is a beast and through 6 seasons, he's taken a physical pounding... I do wonder how long he can last at this pace with 339+ carries in each of the last 3 seasons, while having more than 150 receptions in that time.

Tomlinson has Sanders beat already on TDs (rushing and overall) as well as receiving yards. Just another 6200 or so yards to go...

---

Emmitt has the bar set pretty high though...
LT is halfway there on yards and should catch him on the TDs in 3 seasons.

Agreed. It's not about stats, if it were Emmitt Smith would be hands down the best RB. LT is the best right now, and he'll be top five by the end, but Barry Sanders was the best running back I've ever seen.

They're all great, but I'll agree with Barry and Walter being more fun to watch at times. Some of their moves were just beautiful.

I hope that he does break all of Emmitt's records. Emmitt's best quality was his durability. Can you even imagine what those records would look like if LJ played in that offense and managed to stay healthy as long as Emmitt did?

Let me first start by saying, LT, and Barry Sanders are F'ing amazing talent. You can't develop that type of talent. But, in my (newbie) opinion, they are different types of talents. What makes LT so great is his refriggindiculous speed combined with great intuition. Sanders didn't have blazing speed, but had crazy nimble feet and could make any defensive player miss and look like a 'tard. If you went through the highlight reels of the two players, LT couldn't throw down 35 jukes, and make the best defensive player in the NFL fall down, and Sanders couldn't break a Chiefs tackle and go for 85 yards by leaving the Chiefs in the dust.

To define one as better than the other would mean defining one's skill set as superior to the other's. Not something I would like to do, especially now, since LT hasn't summed up his career. Even after LT throws in the towel on a fantastic career, there will still be the arguement of the two playing for very different teams, talent levels, play calling, and perhaps even different eras.

Crucify me for riding the fence, but my final answer has to be that they are both fantastic players. I can't effectively evaluate one as higher than the other.
