Movies and TV IronMan Fever!!! - Page 4

I have a bunch of friends who have called and want to go see IronMan. Plus, the beautiful and witty Mrs. FAX wants to see it, as well. Unfortunately, the calls kept coming in and they all want to go at different times. I'm willing to see the movie ... maybe 3 times, but not 6 or 7 in the same weekend. Therefore, a quandry results. How do I decide who to go see IronMan with and who I regrettably turn down? At this point, I've said "yes" to everybody.

Any advice?

It doesn't look bad, im sure ill go see it just to relive the indy story, hopefully it doesn't take a shit on the movie series like Rocky 5 or T3

I disagree and to make up for it they're going with more humor. Color me unsurprised. It's just not going to be a good film, I think.

Went to see Iron Man tonight and I would say it was an average movie or slightly better. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

I did enjoy the trailers for Batman and IJ. I think both movies are going to be very good.

Just saw it. Liked it a lot. Downey Jr. was excellent and I'm not sure how well the movie would've worked without him.

I could totally agree, but word has it that people have screened the rough cut of the film from what I've seen have had really really positive reviews. IIRC, a few of them have said they think it's the best one since the original. NOT MY WORDS- Just relaying the rumors and buzz I've seen.

IMO, it has to be better than TLC, and Shia LeBouf is a welcomed addition to the series. I've always liked the kid since he won Project Greenlight way back in the day. I think the plan is to have him takeover the franchise. He seems to have a general appeal for movie audiences, and is actually a pretty talented actor. He fits in with today's action hero, in the sense that he can actually act and doesn't look like Sly or Arnold, thanks to CGI taking care of action scenes.

Really? Maybe because Michael Bay directed it I had VERY low expectations, but I thought the 1st 2/3rds of the film was extremely solid, and only lacked in dragging a bit too long and the end not being all that spectacular. I thought it relied too much on visuals at the end, and Bay hasn't quite figured out that everyone isn't going to be blown away by CG filler anymore. Maybe that worked back in the day for The Abyss, Independence Day, or Armageddon, but now you have to know how to blend both visual effects and actually have a solid script and actors to wow people. IMO, principal casting went a long way to making the film much more appealable then simply relying off visual effects.
