TG is all those things. There's a difference between those two cats. I like Waters. I think he's a good soldier. But, he's not looking for the same things Gonzo's looking for out of life. FAX |

So?
We hated, and I mean HATED our HS football coach. But everyone stuck it out, and it created a stronger bond in the locker room. Christ, we were just kids, and we acted more professional than the so-called professionals... |

The difference being this is the NFL not high school. The NFL is a business, players are employees, owners are bosses, and coaches are management.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, perhaps you'd like to think deeper about what it means to be a professional. |

Well, I can respect that. Actually, the more I read your posts, the more inclined I am to your argument that TG was being the prima donna in this case.
Nevertheless, when you weigh it all out (in my mind, at least) TG is a Chief. He was drafted a Chief and wanted to retire a Chief. It took a great deal for him to ask to be traded. That "great deal" was the stupidest head coach ever to don a headset backwards and ask for help turning it on. Because of that, I honestly don't blame him for wanting out. Plus, I don't see anything wrong with pitching him the rock for 3 yards in front of the home crowd. Herm doesn't give a shit about the Chiefs. All he talks about are the Jets and the Bucs. If he did care, he would have given Tony his moment in the sun. So, on balance, I'm still more for Gonzo on this deal. FAX |

That's what's great about offensive linemen. They know that they are the 5 most important players on the field, and don't bitch a bit about the lack of recognition they get. Will Shields played here for what, 14 years? Does Tony Gonzalez deserve a chance at a ring more than Will ****ing Shields? If Tony wanted a ring that badly, he shouldn't have signed a new deal. It's not like he signed, THEN Herm was hired. |

And being a business, Tony signed a deal and cashed the check AFTER Herm Edwards was hired here. You guys can blame Herm for this all you want. He IS a bad coach. But Tony knew what he was getting into when he signed the extension. It's on his head, and his head alone. |

The other thing I would urge you to consider is that not all guys are the same. Waters is a different breed of cat compared to TG. They have different roles and different goals. Personally, I feel badly for all the guys who have played for us through the years. I particularly feel badly for all the guys we've drafted recently knowing that, in all likelihood, they'll never sniff a Super Bowl with this organization. I've said many times how much I regret all the wasted talent that has gone through this franchise at all positions. FAX |
