What if... a Thigpen question

Could Tyler Thigpen be to the Chiefs this season what Mike Aviles was for the Royals this season?

The royal finally got a shot, blew it, rode the pine for a week or so. Comes back in his next start, lights it up, never left the lineup, solved a problem, filled a gap, what have you.

The Chief gets his shot, blows his first start, rides then pine a few weeks. Comes back in his next start...(possibly lights it up? outplays the hall of famer? never leaves the lineup the rest of season? fills one of many weak spots for the draft?)

How good does he have to be?

Thigpen's overthrows may not be a mechanical problem. He could simply be overly excited to be in the game. Its the same sort of thing that can happen to young pitchers who are crazy wild in their first few appearances.

Clearly, nerves were a huge part of his problem in Atlanta.

He actually started to play well in the Atlanta game starting with the last drive of the 1st half that resulted in a TD. He played pretty good in the 2nd half of that game as well up until that final pick 6 he threw. Young QB's do take time and it will be interesting watching this guy the rest of this season to see where he stands.

I was thinking after the Atlanta game that I'd like to see him play more. Seemed like in the second half he started catching up with the NFL game speed.

But, all the writers came out that night telling us how Thigpen WASN'T an NFL starter.

Looked to me that he picked up where he left off at the Atlanta game and gained some confidence today.

Could he be this year's Derek Anderson? Maybe a Kurt Warner?

cleveland was bad the year he kinda broke out. I think he had that game against the chiefs if I remember correctly. He had a lot of young weapons, and the next year it came together. Could happen here. Like I said Thiggys legs can help him with this crap line unlike Croyle or defiantely Huard

think about it.
Aviles is not a glamor shortstop, maybe not even a second baseman. But he has tools too valuable rot on the bench, so you play him and he rewards you.
here we are some weeks later, Thiggy is playing his ass off. And as far as Thiggy as QBOTF, i'd rather have him than some beautiful piece of shit ala Lienart, Quinn, etc.
Thigpen may not be winning games, but we are the chiefs, we don't win. We have a chance to win, then we blow it like a good rebuilding team should.
