IMO long was the 1st pick because he was going to be easier to sign, cheaper, and the cornerstone for the oline. parcells likes line play and builds from that. and by most accounts long was ahead of the others drafted. now MM (i think) had albert, but most people were against him being a lt right? so basically when it comes to the draft it's a crapshoot.
