I know people don't like the thought of going 8-8, but I learned my lesson on Saturday - we DO NOT WANT to ever pick in the Top 5 again.

I have this team going 7-9. I think a change in attitude and better coaching, along with the subtle talent upgrades we've made, are good for 4-5 more wins. I think we NEED to win at least 6 games to avoid the shitty scenario we had this year.

Unless we need a Franchise QB or a LT. Which we don't.

I'd like to think the Chiefs can win 7 games next year, but the schedule is just brutal, and we're going to be implementing all new offensive and defensive schemes with a totally new staff and a host of new players. I'm going to stay cautiously optomistic, and go with 5-11, hoping for 7-9.

We had needs at pretty much every position this last draft and it was still a problem. It's no longer about need - the salaries are so out of control that it's just not worth it.

I don't put in any stock in schedules anymore. Every year there's a half dozen or more teams that dramatically underperform or overperform compared to expectations.

I laugh every time I read about how "difficult" or "easy" someone's schedule is the next year. Injuries, player development, player regression and coaching changes will cause dramatic changes like they do every year.

As do I, but you have to admit - at first glance, this years schedule looks hellish.

Injuries or not I'm also an eagles fan and the NFC is never an easy division to play.

Best case scenario, these guys win 6 games.

But if I were predicting right now, I'd say 4 wins.

Not when you have a weak top 1st rd which is what I've been saying all along.

We needed to trade down and didn't because others didn't think anyone was really worth #3 money.

There wasn't a Mario Williams, Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, anyone like that in this seasons draft. I mean Aaron Curry was listed as the best draft prospect for crying out loud.

I don't know about that. Many times there are elite skill type players to be had in the top 5. This year's draft just sucked. Beside i think the next CBA contains some kind of rookie pay scale which will make the top 8 draft picks much easier to deal with and much more valuable in terms of trading.

The next CBA won't contain any such thing. The players aren't just gonna cave like everybody thinks they will. They already get far less of the cut than players in other sports.

Next year's rookie salaries stand to be even worse than this year's.

I disagree. I don't think any veteran likes seeing a first day employee making more than they do. Next years rookies are not a part of the players union. Who's going to speak on their behalf?

The less money that is spent on rookies, the more that can go to veterans.

The players want a bigger cut of the pie - the vets don't want to take money from the rookies, they want to take it from the OWNERS. And if you don't think veterans use rookie salaries as a bargaining tool, you're kidding yourself. If less money is spent on rookies, the vets lose part of their leverage for bigger contracts.
